When people ask how to spoof a hitachi as a different drive, I usually give them the video on youtube of darkangel spoofing a 78 as a 79, the only problem with that is it takes him 40 min's to do it (4 10 min videos).

So I made this 6 min tut showing how to do it. You can use this video to spoof any hitachi as any other drive. I used a 47 in this video, but you can use any revision of hitachi, and spoof it as any other drive. (I spoofed mine as an ms28)

With that said, samsung's and hitachi's share the same laser, so if they do have read problems, you can swap the laser with a spare samsung if you have any.

With the door sticking, Its probably because they are old, if you were to put some grease on the rails, that should fix it. I have no idea what grease you are supposed to use, but I have used some spray lube stuff a couple times. Think its called Jigga Lube (Close to a racist term :O)
