Hi all, I've got a guys benq to flash with 1.6 i cant get jf to work without my pc freezing so decided to go the dos route
as i cant boot from usb on my achient machine i burned frostys mod disc 1.6 from cd. it all runs smoothly and i exited to check if it dumped the keys correctly. the folder was empty. i tried again with the tray half open and was left with a ixtreme.bin with a filesize of 0kbs. im glad i didn't erase the drive now!
do i need to unlock this drive or something?
to reiterate, i haven't been able to create a custom firmware. i need help!

As long as you have done nothing but tried to read the drive, your in good shape, and the drive should still be fully functional.
Are you on windows xp? Install the 5.30c drivers for your via card, then disable them.
Also, are you flashing a stock benQ or updating?

i uninstalled the drivers for via, im not sure but i believe it was stock.
i get to the part on the disc before erasing and it says success and displays the drive key, ofw loc, and hfwloc so it seems ok. then i reboot into windows and the folder is empty. sometimes there is a ofw.bin (or something similar) that is the correct size 256kb but its corrupt. im tempted to just see if it works but i know i shouldnt. its not my drive afterall

Well if you install the via drivers, but disable them, you should have no freezing problems in jungle flasher, and you should be able to flash from there.
BenQ's are VERY easy to flash, but dont rush, make sure you have a good dump of the drive, its not a huge deal if you brick the drive as long as you have the key, but it is if you do not get the key, and you brick the drive.
I have never used the disk, so I cant really help you there, another member may be able to though.
