I am afraid that you will have to be more specific with your setup and steps that you have taken thus far...

Is portio installed? Are you sure you are in the correct port? Via disabled?
If you know what port the drive is on, eject the tray, send mode b, and see if the drive tray closes, and verify it is in mode b by pressing eject twice before it opens.

Some hitachi's do that. I have not had one of these yet, but as long as your setup is good, just try tinkering around, try different things, try mode b on your ck3 maybe, that may work.

I've only had one 79 to ever give me problems. Had to use a different computer with onboard sata, nforce chipset actually to get the job done. I have more problems with the older hitachi's than anything. Namely the 47's. grrrr....

i hate 59s!!! but this is the thing, i did a couple of hitachi drives in the last couple of days and it really just comes down to how aggressive you are with the drive. trying to get it into mode b can be annoying so just keep at it. at one point when i was using slax 2.1 because jungleflasher wouldn't detect the drive i had to actually eject the tray a few times while slax was booting up initially because slax as well wasn't detecting the drive in order to spin it up. . . so just be creative and aggressive. but be careful at the same time ecause them drives lock up easily, well 59s that is, did i say i hate those!!??!!
