If you're interested in a much cheaper hack you might also want to look into softmods. It's really very easy now.

What is the difference between soft an hard mods?
What are the pros and cons of each?

Thanks!

For me personally I can't ever see doing a hardware mod on the Wii.
Pros for Soft:
1. They're FREE!!!
2. Once you've taken the time to read through a few tutorials and understand what to do, it only takes about 10 min.
3. You never have to open the case. BIG +
4. My favorite app is the "Homebrew Browser" which lets you connect to a server to download more apps straight to the Wii without ever using your computer.
5. You can play all region games.
6. 99.99% of games work!
7. No disc required (equals less money spent)

Cons for Soft:
1. If you mess up you can ruin your Wii and I MEAN ruin!!
2. There's like 600 versions of the Wii, (just a little exaggeration)
3. The amount of info available can be overwhelming

Pros for Hard mod:
1. One time setup
2. No need for multiple apps taking up space on your Wii.
3. 99.99% of games work.

Cons
1. You must open the case, which can be a pain in the butt!
2. The hardware is kind of expensive.
3. Making your own backups cost a lot more than slapping a 500GB hard drive for your Wii to use.

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks for the info.

Where would I find info on softmods?

Thanks.

Did you do it ? and if so then you are ready to play backups just burn to dvd-r media and play. Me I use usb loader gx with a wd 320 gb passport you can check this out viewtopic.php?f=103&t=6293" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and you can find this in our downloads just put the apps folder on the root of your sd card and run it in homebrew hook up your hdd to the usb port on the back of the wii, If one doesnt work then try the other it will format the hdd for you. You can install games using the disc drive or with wbfs manager and the iso on your computer. Put wad manager on the root of your sd card and create a folder called wad put the channel forwarder wad in that folder ,run wad manager in homebrew and install the wad use ios 249. Look around on the link to yafaze in the user tutorials ther is so much you can do. hope this helps you out.
