How do you restore a BenQ drive using iPrep?

Post by c0afanh »

I went to do a flash on a BenQ drive with the new iPrep v10.7 program. Everything was going good up until it asked me to power the drive off and then back on. So, I turned it off and then back on. The next thing what happened was it erased the BenQ's original firmware and then it locked up or froze on me. The iPrep v10.7 program never got a chance to put the bencfw.bin file into the drive. Now I need help on restoring the drive. I did manage to save the BenOFW. bin file in case if something went wrong. Can someone please help me on how to restore the BenQ drive by using iPrep v008.8. I tried using the new iPrep v10.7 program, but I keep having problems with it. I re-installed the iPrep v008.8 and updated the ixDef file for it. Every time I use an updated iPrep program, I keep having issues. When I re-install the older iPrep v00.8.8 program, I do not have any issues. Please help. Thanks....c0afanh.

well man
you have to rename youe ofw and put it in the backup/1234567/12345
you rename it the flash name i dont remember what it is on v8
then you just give it the flash command
and it will flash in your ofw

i look into doing a restore on the new v10.7
and
a video on flashing in the 0800 firmware in a benq or samsung drive

I am really not trusting the new iPrep v10.7 program because it kept freezing up or locking up on me. The new iPrep v10.7 program is the one that caused my drive to be ereased and never put in the bencfw.bin file into the drive. It just froze. Is there a video tut on how to restore a benq drive with using iPrep?

Bad news and good news. The good news is, my benQ drive is now restored. I followed every instructions you gave me CoFree, and I followed them step by step. The bad new is, my drive will not play neither the back up games or the original games. When I insert a back up game or original game, it displays "Play DVD". Again, I did what you told me to do and followed every instructions you gave me. Therefore, I am back a square one. Please help me. Anyone, please. Thanks....c0afanh.

Like shaun said re flash the drive again. I have done 4 benqs without a problem, may be there could be a problem with your system?? if you have problems revert back to the older iprep that you used before with out any problems

rename your benofw.bin to bencfw.bin make the folders in your back up like you would with the other iprep, then do this at the first screen in iprep 10.7

BEN 1234567 12345 WThat will erase and write your origianl fw back

Thanks. I will try it out. I really do not know why the iPrep v10.7 locked up on me when I was in the process of installing the iXtreme v1.6 cfw. However, it did erase the original customer firmware and managed to save it. Any ideas why iPrep v10.7 would lock up during the flashing process? Let me know. Thanks....c0afanh.

it does play DVD movies. I watched a DVD movie last night. I did check the firmwares through Jungle Flasher and it said it's a good key. I will check it again.

i have not seen where you are using a via6421 chipset
but
that should not matter being that
the pc saw the drive to dump it

man it has to be something in your setup
and it is for sure as far as the restore is concerned.

I am planning on using the latest version of Jungle Flasher. My question is, do I need to install the Port IO 32 installer that comes with the Jungle Flasher program? The reason why I ask, is because when I go to the PortIO32 file to install it, it keeps displaying "ERROR: Please install ProtIO32.dll manually!" Any thoughts or suggestions? Let me know. Anyway, I told you that my BenOFW.Bin and BenCFW.Bin files are good copies. I always make sure of that. Please get back to be about my Jungle Flasher question. Thanks....c0afanh.

Never mind, I got it to work. I installed the PortIO32 installer. My question is, in order for me to use Jungle Flasher, I need to disable the VIA VT6421 drivers and then install the Port IO 32 file and rename the VIA VT6421 file. Then I can use Jungle Flasher. Can I leave the VIA VT6421 drivers disabled and let the Port IO 32 drivers work for iPrep? if I decide to use iPrep and Jungle Flasher. Or, do I have to enable the VIA VT6421 drivers and disable the Port IO 32 drivers if I want to use iPrep and not use Jungle Flasher? Let me know. Thanks....c0afanh.
