Updating Hitachi 47DJ using FW Toolbox

Hey guys,

I am trying to update a 47DJ to the latest firmware. I have flashed a few Hitachis before all gone with no problems, but now I am having a problem.

I can not get the drive recognised in windows, even though i manage to get the drive into ModeB. I have used the CK3 to get the drive into modeb (checked by pressing eject twice). I have also tried using the DOS modeB method, still to no avail. I have also tried to get the drive into modeb, unplug and re-plug the sata cable back in to see if windows would recognise that a new drive has appeard.... still nothing shows up in windows. I have also tried a couple of different SATA cables

Sometimes it hangs for 15 seconds, then nothing.

I am using a VIA card. I also have the latest port IO drivers installed from the .exe which came with the latest version of JF.

I have tried to use JF in the past, but it always hangs my computer, so never bothered. I have never had any problems with FWtoolbox.

Could anyone shed any light on why I can not see my drive in windows?

Many thanks

CJ

hey thanks for the response! that thread was a good read!

I eventually got it working first try this morning. What I did was make sure my computer was off, hooked up the CK3 and made sure it would make the drive go into modeb when i turned it on, then i hooked my drive up to the onboard sata, and NOT my VIA! Turned the PC on and it loaded as normal into windows. (I have no idea what chipset my onboard sata is, but the good news is that it worked.)

I loaded straight into windows, it noticed it had a new drive attached and all went well from there on, with no freezes.

I used FWtoolbox to do the restore and flash, and it has all gone well.

Many thanks

CJ
