Updating Hitachi 47DJ using FW Toolbox

Hey guys,
I am trying to update a 47DJ to the latest firmware. I have flashed a few Hitachis before all gone with no problems, but now I am having a problem.
I can not get the drive recognised in windows, even though i manage to get the drive into ModeB. I have used the CK3 to get the drive into modeb (checked by pressing eject twice). I have also tried using the DOS modeB method, still to no avail. I have also tried to get the drive into modeb, unplug and re-plug the sata cable back in to see if windows would recognise that a new drive has appeard.... still nothing shows up in windows. I have also tried a couple of different SATA cables
Sometimes it hangs for 15 seconds, then nothing.
I am using a VIA card. I also have the latest port IO drivers installed from the .exe which came with the latest version of JF.
I have tried to use JF in the past, but it always hangs my computer, so never bothered. I have never had any problems with FWtoolbox.
Could anyone shed any light on why I can not see my drive in windows?
Many thanks
CJ
