e71?
okay so i was fixing my friend's 360 since he was really lazy to send it in to M$ for repairs. He had the rrod so i easily fixed using the x-clamp fix. When i got everything fixed and overheated the GPU it was working fine. But then the dashboard freezes, game freezes, and a error message saying e71. If i reset the console or power cycle it works fine. Any suggestions what causes this problem?

Re: e71?
E71: possibly a dashboard update error, Check below in the "Console Reset Codes" for instructions. If that does not work there is no other solution and the console must be sent back to MS for repair.
Clear Any Failed system updates that cause the console to error.
1. With the console off, press and hold the sync up button (the small white one)
2. While holding the sync button press the power button to turn on the console
3. Continue to hold the sync button until the Console has booted up completely.
4. During the boot process the console should clear any failed updates, allowing you to use it normally.

If its working now, the xbox probably cleared the failed update, and redownloaded it on its own.

Re: e71?
See if it gives you the error when the HDD is not attached.

well i did and it still has the same problem. i guy told me to heat gun it and it gave me the red rings again. i heat gun it the second time and the error still showed up. i guess the xbox is dead and needs to be replaced.
well i tried my best but thanks for the suggestions anyways.
