Jungle driver?

Hi Guys, I have .66 version downloaded of jungle, portio installed and the 6421 sata card with drivers installed. When i fire it up with the drivers installed it reads the keys perfectly (Im doing a liteon 7series) However, it reads you have to have the driver for that uninstalled before flashing/erasing. If it is reading it correctly, do i really need to disable the driver? When I try to disable the driver and I turn on the drive (hooked up with ck3lite) it freezes the PC. So should I attempt to flash the drive with the driver installed??

PS- normally i use iprep but my PC just died and im using an OLD one that doesnt boot from usb drive. I'm not to keen on using a floppy for something like this, with my luck the floopy would fail.

NO!
You need to disable the driver and psyically remove it from the system.

I removed the disabled and deleted the driver and rebooted the system (Win XP). The ! mark is there now however when I power on the drive it freezes the system. Did I miss something? Should I reinstall it? Klutsh, I wish I could use Iprep!! :D

OK, So I did this verbatim:

Make sure you have portio32 installed. Open device manager and disable your VIA card.

Browse to X:\windows\system32\drivers and find a file called viamraid.sys, it could be a dll I can't remember for sure. Either way there is only one file named viamraid rename it to viamraid.bak or something.

Re-enable the VIA card in the device manager. It should show a yellow exclamation mark on it. Reboot your computer. Check device manager again to make sure it still has the yellow exclamation mark on it.

I did all of this and when I power on the drive the system doesn't freeze, but as soon as I try to run Jungle Flasher it locks the system. I did this process twice and it does the same thing. There is one file in system 32\drivers named viamraid. Ive tried renaming it one time and the second time deleting it all together.

I've read the post and I don't believe that I have missed anything. I don't know what else to do.

Has anybody flashed a drive without having to uninstall the drivers or rename them? I've changed pci slots for the card, deleted, renamed 6 different times and I can't get it to stop freezing. If I enable the driver back to normal (w/o question mark) it starts right up, no freezing. Also, the via driver im using makes my sata card show up as 3249 because I used the 550b drivers that I downloaded. Could that be it? Is the driver too new?

Nope its not due to the newer drivers. I'd maybe reinstall portio and the .dotnet framework and try again, its also worth doing a search of your system for viamraid as if you have the hyperions or via drivers unzipped somewhere in a folder it will reinstal them when your system reboots.

Well, I finally got it going.

I ended up finding the uniata driver that stops the freeze. Basically downloaded the driver (uniata driver), uninstalled the card then reboot the PC. Upon restart, Windows then says found new hardware, so I then deleted the viamraid.sys driver from the system32/drivers, then renamed the uniata.sys to viamraid.sys and put that in the directory. I manually direct it to this driver and it installed it and told me to reboot.

When it restarted It then said it found 'UNIATA Management Port SCSI Net Device'. Checked device manager and there was my 6421 with no ! mark. Fired up jungle flasher with fingers crossed, powered on the drive and.... it didnt freeze!!! 2 mins later my Lite-on was flashed.

Thanks for the help and if anyone else is having problems with deleting the file I would recommend trying this.

Good work Darren. Which version uniata's did you end up using? The 0.39d's?
