Hello all,
I ordered a VIA 6421 sata pci card, and I plan to flash my liteon 83850c drive.
I read on many forum that it can be done without using the ck, power cycle the drive with the console itself.
Can someone tell me if I use the iPrep 10.7 software did I have to be very quick when they ask to deconnect/reconnect the drive on the erase step ?
And did I have to install something else on my pc ? (I run xp pro 32 bit)
Sorry for my bad english.
I appreciate your help.
Thanx

You'll also need .dotnet framework installed. And yeah its possible to connect it up to the 360 but most of us use the ck3 as its easier and theres some debate on whether microsoft can tell if its been powered up while disconnected from the 360 sata. (loads do so i wouldnt worry too much)

Thanks dale and djs for your quick answer !
If i power cycle with the 360 did I have to worry about the timing of my deconnect/connect ???

Well man id advise u to get a ck3 connectivity kit
if u are using jf then the drive needs to be powerd off and on within a couple of seconds
I think u will be ok in iprep tho
BUT
I wouldnt cheap out man
As dale said we are unsure if microsoft can detect if the drive has been taken out when using the xbox to power the drive
But if u wanna do it that way its up to u man

Re: Plan to flash my 83850c drive
You dont power cycle the 360, you pull the power cable from the back of the drive, then put it back in. Thats how you power cycle the drive. Its a pain, and if your not careful you may plug the cable in upside down and fry the drive.JohnnyB wrote:If i power cycle with the 360 did I have to worry about the timing of my deconnect/connect ???
