What's the best way to paint the faceplate power button without ruining the ring of light and center power light?

I painted a faceplate before but left the power button white because I didn't want to ruin the lighting parts.

Any tips will do.

My advise, grab a good exacto. Use a thin blade, and roughly tape over the whole circle. Now hold the faceplate up to a light source, you will be able to see where the transparent plastic is, then just use your exacto and stick the blade between where the transparent plastic meets the white faceplate.
