All you need is the key. Just load up your target FW, manual spoof, and flash. (as long as you have a good key)

May sound like a stupid question, but is your usb hooked up? Are you on the right com port? Are you sure the port your using isnt dead?

I was flashing a 7 series 2 days ago, and couldn't figure out why my serial data was bad, turns out I forgot to plug the usb into my computer...

right if you 100% sure the comp is not the problemm then either your connectivity kit or probe is faulty.

I didn't have a official probe, (I built my own) but the first probe I built gave me that error. I took my time with the 2nd probe, tested it in Hyperterminal and then it worked.

Try to get a signal from Hyperterminal just to see if it's working. Again this was troubleshooting my own. :|

Just for the record, there have been a few lite-ons that have been found that were missing their serial data from the factory. Now I'm not saying this should be ignored, just pointing this out.

The warning also comes up if you don't hold the probe at the right angle or perfectly over the 707 whole. It took me a few attempts but in the end I found that holding it slightly diagonally off straight up extracted the key perfectly.

That and you have to hold your mouth right with your tongue out..
