Drive Spoofing question

Hey guys just a quick question that hopefully someone can give me a little insight into. I have an xbox 360 currently with a hitachi drive that is flashed with the latest version of iextreme firmware. Unfortunately, the other day my console came down with a bad case of 3 red lights. I do have access to another xbox 360 that is perfectly fine except it has a bad dvd drive. I know that I can spoof my working dvd drive into the other xbox, but my main question is would it be possible to still use the iextreme firmware after spoofing the drive? I'm not sure what brand of drive the other xbox has inside it. But lets say it has a samsung drive, and I spoof my hitachi drive into that system, would I then be able to flash the firmware to iextreme? Also, if that is possible, would I flash with the hitachi or samsung iextreme? Hope this makes sense and someone can help me out because I really don't feel like dishing out 85 bucks to have my local guy fix the 3 red lights on my current box. Thanks

Well by spoofing a drive basically your just changing the identification info, and the key.
So you will need to dump the bad drive, and make sure you get a good OFW (good key)
Next, you will need to open JF, hook up your hitachi, send mode b, and restore to stock.
Next load the OFW as source, and your hitachi 1.51 as target, and click spoof source to target
Now you will need to flash the keys, so select flash key on the right side of JF, and click flash keys once done that...
You will be flashing ixtreme, so click flash ixtreme, and once that is finished, you will need to flash the spoof data
So select flash spoof data, and click the button, and a box will pop up, click the drop down box, and look for the dvd drive that you will be spoofing this as (the bad drive) and click ok.
You should be all done.

Am I to understand that even though I am spoofing the hitachi drive into the samsung console, I would still use the hitachi iextreme firmware? Everything else seems pretty clear and I will most likely give it a go when I get home this evening. If I run into any problems I will let you know, thanks again for all your help.

I have confirmation that the drive is a liteon.... does this pose any issues, or does the procedure remain the same?

Nope no issues.
Yes, you MUST use the FW specific to the drive. All drives function differently, and therefore they need firmware specially tailored to them. You cannot use any FW on the drive besides the one designated for it.
All spoofing is, is modification of the key, and the identification. Both are simple strings within the FW...
