Playing off the hard drive

okay i'm pretty sick of my 360 drives loud jet engine noise! i normally play the thing late at night, and as a result of the jet engine i have to turn the tv volume up high, which unfortunately disturbs others who are asleep
now i was wondering has anybody been playing off the hard drive with back-ups? has anybody put back-ups on the hard drive? is it safe to do so and above all is it quiet

Yea, its fine to do. If your going to be banned for playing the game, it wouldn't matter if you were playing it via HDD, or off the disk. Some people think its safer to play from the HDD...

Anyways, I have a hitachi that likes to sound like a jet with certain games, so I usually install those to the HDD.

Let me guess your drive is a samsung? (Just about every samsung ive done is quite loud when reading and playing backups and most originals)

put x-men wolverine on the hd. big time noise reduction, i think i'll be doing this a lot in future

The ones i've had sound like a jet taking off then a little smurf trying to escape using toffee hammers. For a test stick Fable in if you have it then put a pair of earmuffs on to avoid going deaf.

haha I play fable 2 every now and then and its not loud at all

My BenQ's are all brand new drives I bought from ebay, so that may be the ticket... I think my oldest one is 4 months...
