I saw that, a member posted that pic, and sadalius said he was aware of it, so I was thinking hmm, I must be pretty far out of the loop.

I'll check the drive I have in the xbox M$ is sending me, I hope its not this 9 series.

There is a 9xxx series. I've not actually seen one physically, but there are a few out there that I have been told about from people like schtrom, team modfreakz, and a couple others. These are folks that have no reason to lie about it so I considered it confirmed.

thats strange I got a brand new 360 made in August 28, 2009 and has an older lite on.

It all depends where your box is made. This drive may only be out in Taiwan (or wherever it was first discovered) or it may also just be a replacement drive.
