ok man

did you start from the beginning.build a new usb flash and all
do you have a dump of the firmware with a good key.
if you have a good orig firmware then do this restore.lets get it playing orig game then we can start over.

Don't feel bad man, I've done that once before too. I just got in a hurry, put everything together, went to test it and thought oh crap.... Took it back apart and found the sata cable not connected. Then I was a little upset at myself but was at ease because I realized that nothing was wrong. From then on, I made myself a check list so I wouldn't forget anything.

Give us a little more info, is it asking you to update when you put in a game or just not playing anything at all? If its asking you to update, let it. If its not playing them at all, whats it doing when you put in an original?

going to a slower firmware like 8x speed will make it a little quiter(not much(
we dont recommend going slower than that.

the game update come off the disc not from xbox live.
if you can take the game update with a orig game.
if not i do it with a backup all the time.

What was the speed of the original firmware?, also, does upping the speed up the risk of RROD due to heat?

to flash using 8x,do i just point iprep to the 8xFW and repeat the same process i originally did?

the console comes with12x speed when it new.
when you build your iprep just click 8x speed firmware if you want that one.
