Commodore 4eva has just confirmed that he will be releasing the new firmware by the end of next week, if not then will be out by the end of this month
Im unsure what drives this will be for but its still great news

Great post man, any info on what drives the firmware will be released for, surley they have to update the hitachi firmware even though the ixtreme 1.51 for hitachi can boot wave 4 games.

Now anyone who flashes Xbox's already knows supporting Samsung is well, useless most current and modern drives are BenQ and LiteOn and I'm sorry but c4eva worries about those first, he did it with 1.6. Hitachi was never supported in 1.6.....
Also the "real" rumor which was talked about in the chat was that 1.61 just simply removes checking the video sector or wave all together, basically what a stock drive does.
Can't wait so see how it all pans out!
