Flashing BenQ
Flashing BenQ
Is it normal that during flashing the third section of ring starts to flash red during the process? I've flashed it a few times before but never noticed the red flashing third section. I noticed it the other day and forgot to post the question. I flash using sata controller by the way.
Re: Flashing BenQ

Re: Flashing BenQ
I've only flashed using the 360 a couple of times, neither time did any of the lights flash red. Only the center light would flash green real fast, but no red ones.

Re: Flashing BenQ
hook it all up and see if it will play a orig game
Re: Flashing BenQ
Cofree it works it plays back up's and original's there seems to be nothing wrong with it. I flashed upgrade a few days ago and noticed this for the first time I just forgot to post the question. It seems fine I am just wondering if it is normal and if it may be a sign that there is something wrong with my drive. Now that I think of it I cant remember seeing the red light flash before when I flashed it for the first time in December.
Re: Flashing BenQ
I wouldn't worry to much about it as long as everything is working as expected. Who knows for sure what caused it, but like I said, if its working, it should be ok.

Re: Flashing BenQ
When I flashed this time around I had to turn on my drive before I pressed "y" to resend to drive while in dos. I know third section ring has to do with drive could it be that while flashing the drive was giving an unrecognized firmware error?
Re: Flashing BenQ
doesn't make sense... if you are flashing the drive it is connected to your pc, not your xbox.phelixnyc wrote:When I flashed this time around I had to turn on my drive before I pressed "y" to resend to drive while in dos. Therefore there is no communication between xbox & drive

Re: Flashing BenQ
well the thing is
when you power the 360 console with the dvd drive hooked to the computer we just dont know what all can/will happen.
that is one of the big reason most of us dont power the dvd drive that way.
like sadalius said i would just leave well enough alone.
as long as its working thats good enough for me.

Re: Flashing BenQ
When I first flashed my MS25 drive, I got the RROD, but not only in one corner, I got it all around. I was getting power from the 360 itself. Less than a month later that 360 gave the RROD each time it was powered on.
What method of powering the DVD drive would you recommend for me to use for flashing? Is there a method that can use the computer's power supply or some other power supply that is not the Blaster 360 and that is not the Xbox 360 itself?CoFree wrote:when you power the 360 console with the dvd drive hooked to the computer we just dont know what all can/will happen. that is one of the big reason most of us dont power the dvd drive that way.

Re: Flashing BenQ
this is what i use.

but if you are thinking of getting one
i would say get this.It is a x360 to usb for flashing the hit drives in windows from a usb and it comes with a connectivity kit.

Re: Flashing BenQ
Just to clarify; is it OK to use the 360's power to do the flashing? Are these alternatives (to giving the DVD its power) simply a more convenient option?
That said, are you recommending the X360USB as a way to power the DVD drive when flashing? If you don't have a Hitachi, is that all it would be used for?

Re: Flashing BenQ
i will not power the dvd drive with the 360 power. You never know what M$ has up there sleeve.they(M$) may know how or could in the future, to tell that the 360 powered up with out the dvd drive sata plugged into the dvd drive.
if you are never going to flash a older hit drive then you wont need the x360sata/usb.
i would tell you to get the connectivity kit at least.
man you have to have some kind of record.you have 124 post and dont have a flashed 360.
when do you think you are taking the big jump.

Thanx, Cofree and MSK. I figured it didnt make sense ether, posted on two other sites no response I guess it doesn't happen often. Cofree your right if it works then hey. I will invest in connectivity kit. Thanx
