Tragedy stikes home...

Post by technoe »

I know that this has nothing to do with Xbox 360's or console modding but this really hit home for me, especially since it happened on MY post. On Thursday Nov 5th a US Army Major opened fire on a building full of unsuspecting soldiers either preparing to deploy or just getting home from 12 to 15 months in Iraq or Afghanistan. This happened less than two miles from my office at Ft. Hood, TX. So far they're have been 13 confirmed deaths and 30 injured including the shooter who is now in the hospital trying to recover so the investigation can continue. You can find a majority of the story here:
http://www.latimes.com/news/la-na-fort- ... ?track=rss" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
All I ask is that you do not reply to this post with derogatory or slanderous comments. I am a soldier in the US Army and this means a great deal to me, more than anything I'm still completely and utterly pissed. If you have any questions feel free to ask I'll answer what I can.

Thanks,

Mike

Did you know anyone that was involved with this and if so are they ok....I live in Killeen and all day long we could hear the sirens going off and it freaked me out a little bit.....I couldn't imagine what it was like on post.....My aunt works out in West Fort Hood and she said the lock down was crazy.....I saw today they have hummers at all the entrances onto the base....anyways it was a very sad day and I hope you and anyone you may have known that was involved is ok.

It's going to be a long time before we get back to any degree of normalcy around here. They have armed guards at every public building now.

I am also a serving member, but with the Royal Air Force. As you probably know we have just had a similar incident in Afghan, you have to wonder where the world is going!

My thoughts and prayers go to all those involved. May they all find peace.

What is crazy is the world is going to shit and a lot of tragic things happen on a daily basis but they are more worried about little trivial things like us.

I think what wicked is trying to say it that sometimes governments get caught up in trivial crap instead of the safety our the men and women from any nation serving around the world.

Thank you Tecnoe for clearing that up for me. My girl works at Starbucks and she said the female officer that shot the Major comes in two or three times a day and she can tell she is a badass. So yes GrassAss they are very brave.
