XBC question

Trying to make a rip with XBC. Drive is BENQ with 1.6. hooked via ck3 to via sata cardt 6421. I tried in 2 different PC systems with the same result: booted to windows, the drive is not detected unless I do the half tray trick. Once the half tray is done, the benq VAD6038 is detected in the drop down menu of XBC, but when I put the disk the log says"no media present" and the tabs for "start" button (the tab where you click to read) shows as inactive. I also tried 3 or 4 different games to make sure the it was not bad media, still no go.
Again, i tried this on an XP and VIsta with the very same results....am i missing something here?
help appreciated. thanx

Does the drive work in a console? Also when you put a disk in does your drive make any noise, like its trying to read the game? If not, open your drive up and make sure your laser isn't stuck.

Does your comp assign it a letter? If not you will need to power your drive with the tray half open, and reboot your comp, it should give it a letter and show you a 'found new hardware' notification when you sign into your account.

If your drive has a letter, but you cannot see it in XBC, make sure you have the latest version of XBC, the previous versions dont support lite-on's

well got it to reconize. installing driver successful, then showed the name of my drive. got all the way to seeing drive and media.here are the settings:

here is the error:Image

right before the errors it shuts off. i am using ck3 in firmware mode, i set it to vendor mode, then i hiot the eject button and it loads the media. so i hit the read button and it fails after a bit due to power loss.
the xbox is being powered by the brick and my VIA 6421 is enabled.
whats up with the power turning off.
i even tried to unlock drive, still turned off
even got to intro.bik or some kind of .bik(video)

doing a backup this way has always been a pain
the best thing is to just flash in the 0800 and dump your games
or bast
would be to pick up a samsung or benq dvd drive cheap on ebay
flash in the 0800 firmware and just leave it hook to your pc. ;)

Flashing 0800, then flashing 1.6/1.61 after your done your backup is more work than just leaving 1.6/1.61 on there and doing the half open trick.

Personally I think kreon drives are the way to go. I went kreon, installed the drive in my computer and never looked back.

yeah kreon would be nice. i am to lazy to go find and buy a kreon.
more work? not really when using the blaster, everything is built in.all i got to do is carry the brick around.
appreciate the time though and the thought!!!!
UPDATE!!!
got it to work, had everything right, i figured since in vendor mode there would be no video, i tried it a time with the av plugged in but since the green rings where working i figured it wasnt vendor mode. So in desperation(4hrs later, yeah im lame! but determined )i slapped that bad bitch in and noticed it said open tray(tray was half open)i tried.
WOOO HOOOO.100% complete and passed abgx newest release,
(hows this look?)straight from splitvid XBC to abgx..(@ x12 speed+ avg. 8-9)
thanX in advance
