liteon spoofed to hit-need help upgrading to ix1.6

Here is the situation-I have a liteon 74 spoofed as a hitachi with the older firmware that wont play the w4 games. Ive tried to reflash it once with jf, and i locked up the drive. Does anyone know what im doing wrong? I followed cofree's tut,http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1zhKyAV-Es, and i have already done my lite on, which I had no prob with. Any help is appreciated.

you have a lite-on dvd drive that you have spoofed into a console that had a hit drive when it was new.

If I remember correctly, he acquired an xbox with a liteon in it which was spoofed to a hit.

Have you followed cofree's tut for recovering a locked up drive?

yes, I recovered the drive this morning, so Im ready to try it again. This is a liteon drive spoofed as a hitachi, and it wont play wave 4 games. Im trying to update the firmware so I can play the w4 games.

so you are puting a lite-on drive in a console that had a hit drive in it originally.
the hit v1.51 will play a wave 4 game with the acto iso used first

Im guessing it originally had a hit drive. Im not certain because I didnt do the work. The drive was making a weird noise, and I had a guy repair it and flash it. All I know now is it has a lite-on drive with hitachi fw. The question I have that has not been answered is this: do I mod it as if its a hit, or a liteon. As I understand it, it has to be flashed as a lite-on. But do I use lite-on fw, or hit fw?

a dvd drive has to have IT'S FIRMWARE in it for it to work.
if its a lite-on, it MuST have lite-on firmware in it
benq MuST HAVE benq firmware and so on
what you do to SPOOF a drive is you add a small amount of data to the firmware that will report to the console that it is a different dvd drive than it is.

i have a console that has a benq drive in it when it was new
now (for what ever reason) i want to put in a lite-on dvd drive.
the first "must" is you have to have the key that was in your orig benq firmware.
you always HAVE to have you orig key

now
to put the lite-on in the console that had a benq
you can build the firmware with jungle flasher
i would "open as source" my benq firmware
then open "target firmware" would be the (hacked) lite-on firmware
then click the spoof to target

what that does is take your key and a small amount of other (spoof)data and inject it in the hacked lite-on firmware.
so when you flash that in the lite-on the console will see the "key" its looking for
and
when the console ask the dvd drive "what kind of dvd drive are you"
the dvd drive will "lie" and say im a benq dvd drive.but as we know if fact its a lite-on dvd drive we have "spoofed"
if the dvd drive told the truth and said im a lite-on dvd drive then the console would know its the wrong drive and give a error and not work.

yes, that does help. It is a lite-on, but when I hooked it to my pc to flash it, it came out as a hitachi drive, so im sure it has been spoofed, but not by me. What you are saying is what ive been looking for, but nobody had given me a straight answer. Now is there a tutorial on how to do what u just said? Do I have to put the original lite-on fw back on it, then spoof it as a hitachi?

there is NO original firmware for the lite-on

you have to input your orig hit firmware as the source
then
open target will be your lite-on hacked firmware you want to flash in
(that would be v1.6)
then click spoof to target

then flash that in your lite-on dvd drive

what that will do is give you a lite-on dvd drive that has been spooded to report as a hit dvd drive

Just one more question, should I follow the tut you posted for Sadalius(Reflashing Lite on from v1 5 to v1 51)? Please let me know if there are any changes from the tut that I need to make in order for the drive to be flashed

the biggest thing is dont use a via card
and if you have to then you have to uninstall all drive file that go with it

have a read over this.

its best to use a onbo sata port with no via drive ever

I have to use a via card since my mobo wont detect the drives. I have deleted the viamraid driver and I had no problems flashing my first drive. I just dont want to lock up this spoofed drive again because I have to drive to the next town and borrow a buddys computer to be able to fix it using iPrep, since my computer wont boot off of a flash drive. I just need some clarification:Do I follow the video on youtube(Reflashing Lite on from v1 5 to v1 51) to do this, or is there any steps I need to change to flash this drive.

you flash a spoofed firmware the SAME way you flash any other firmware
the only thing different is the data in the firmware

if you have a lockup problem, its not the firmware that is the trouble.
