Ok so everytime I try to unzip or unrar files I always get errors saying that the crc failed because the volume is corrupt. I have heard this could be because of unstable ram. Any body care to shed some light on this? Thanks.

how many rar files have you tried
you can also try 7zip to unrar a file

it unzips many different zip files

Yeah I have tried a few different programs that handle these types of files with no luck. It seems like somehow during the download process of these files my computer corrupts it, not the extracting part. I can download the exact same file from my laptop and unrar or unzip it just fine. Its definately something with my pc. It has a fresh install of windows, ram is working properly, and a brand new hd. I just dont get it, maybe my network card? :?:

Well I think I figured it out. I Have a linksys router with dd-wrt custom firmware. I turned off the spi firewall on my router and I am now able to download rar files without them being corrupted. Hope this helps anybody who might be having this problem.
