Ripping game from Tosh-Samg drive

I'm trying to get my old Toshiba Samsung xbox drive connected to my computer so I can rip games.
I got a connectivity kit and got everything hooked up and got to the stage of flashing the drive with 0800 firmware. When I tried to load it with iPrep 10.7, it says not valid firmware.
I have tried updating the defination files, but still no avail.

Is this the correct way to flash it or do I need to do something different? I have flashed my drive a few times now but never tried to get 0800 firmware on it.

What you need to do is open up jungle flasher and put the sammy in vendor mode then flash the drive with 0800 firmware, then everything should be good to go.....

Follow this tutorial

if your using 10.7 just change the iprep command from fsam 1234567 12345

to

sam 1234567 12345 w

Got the drive flashed ok and it's being recognised in windows 7. I put a movie dvd in to see to see if it would play but it blue screens the computer. Is it possible to use the xbox drive this way?

Its windows 7 64 bit. Reckon that will make a difference?

So the drive should act like a normal DVD ROM drive? I'll try it in another computer.

Should it be connected thru the VIA SATA card or thru the motherboard sata?

Thanks for the quick reply. :)

Brought the kit into work and it loads fine. It plays a movie DVD no probs.

What is the mode button for? I think I might have had it in the wrong mode when I was trying it at home...
