Re: Lite-On? Benq? Which is it?

The next step I need to do is build the firmware and flash the drive. I can't find any good tutorials for doing so. I need to erase/flash in DOS (so no JungleFlasher), and I can't use iPrep because I've already got the keys (no need to dump them again), but no dummy.bin (I used dvdkey 1.2). I'm look...

Re: Lite-On? Benq? Which is it?

I found this tutorial for getting the liteon key without CK3 and without MAX3232. It uses one transistor and two resistors. I had been trying to do the same thing, but I couldn't for the life of my get the drive ejected properly. Plus I was using the wrong version of dvdkey. Following that tutorial ...

Re: How To Half Eject Liteon With Paperclip?

Well, I got a key out of my drive, finally. I did it three times and got the same key every time. It's 16 bytes long. I'll be doing research on the steps to perform now, including checking if this key is good or not (maybe it got the wrong key three times :P ) I'll post my steps in the other thread ...

How To Half Eject Liteon With Paperclip?

I don't have the CK3, so I'm trying to use the "paper clip method" to half-eject the drive, required to read the dvdkey. Since I've got other factors to worry about in reading the key, I want to make sure I'm doing this step correctly. How exactly does one perform the paper clip method? Sh...

Re: Lite-On? Benq? Which is it?

According to dvdkey's readme: For rs232 troubleshuting, consider that Liteon by default outputs an endless stream of 0x00 and 0x01 at 115200 8N1, you should see it with Realterm with display set to hex Connecting the drive's 707 hole directly to my computer's RS-232 RX results in a stream of data, a...

Re: Lite-On? Benq? Which is it?

Now, you say tx707. The tutorial I linked says the pad that is above that 707 point. The area with 3 pads (TX, RX, and GND. 3.3 is near there, but not a metal pad). Does it matter which point? So, am I correct in assuming I can just hook the TX straight to the computer? I do it all the time with my ...

Re: Lite-On? Benq? Which is it?

Quick question. The CK3 tutorials all have only a probe on the TX connection. Does that mean only the TX connection on the DVD drive is necessary to extract the DVD key? If that's the case, a full blown RS-232/TTL converter isn't necessary. Is the TX on the DVD drive for transmitting _to_ the drive,...

Re: Lite-On? Benq? Which is it?

Thank you for the replies. I eventually conceded to this being a Lite-on drive. How depressing :( I'm in the process of building an RS-232 to TTL circuit. Luckily I have a bunch of transistors and such laying around so I'll give it a shot and hope for the best. I'm using this tutorial to read the ke...

Lite-On? Benq? Which is it?

I got a new 360 Arcade and would like to flash the drive. I've taken it apart, but I'm having trouble figuring out what kind of drive it is, because the information online has been conflicting. The drive says "Philips & Lite-on Digitial Solutions Corporation". It has two yellow wires i...
