Re: iPrep 8.8 - DosFlash finding 8 banks on Benq?
Well, I got no replies but here's what ended up working for me. I used iPrep/DOSFlash to get the firmware from the Benq and from the TS drive. I then took the key from the Benq and added it to the TS firmware file and flashed it to the TS drive. Next, I dumped the firmware from the TS and spoofed it...

Re: iPrep 8.8 - DosFlash finding 8 banks on Benq?
are you using a via sata card? Yes, I'm using the VIA card. The ONLY drivers that worked for me were version 530c. They can be found at VIA Arena, you just have to use the "old drivers" link. So, let me try to get this as a step by step because sometimes the word spoof confuses me. I know...

Re: iPrep 8.8 - DosFlash finding 8 banks on Benq?
Thanks guys. To this point, none of he Windows based apps have worked because my PC wants to lock up when the DVD drive is connected while it is running. If I boot with it connected, the driver doesn't start. I've tried removing the driver also where it leaves the exclamation point. My PC isn't exac...

Re: iPrep 8.8 - DosFlash finding 8 banks on Benq?
My PC doesn't like JF. Maybe Firmware toolbox would be better in my case. I guess I could use JF to make the firmware and then use whatever to flash it, right?

I guess I need to read up. Any advice on what tools to use to spoof a TS as a Benq?

Re: iPrep 8.8 - DosFlash finding 8 banks on Benq?
I'm hearing that spoofing a TS drive as a Benq can get me flagged? Is that likely? Possible?
Thanks,
Jeff
Thanks,
Jeff

Thanks for the info Sadalius. I guess it would be wise to avoid downloading any "security updates" or dashboard updates until checking too, right?

Re: iPrep 8.8 - DosFlash finding 8 banks on Benq?
I'm going to read up on some tutorials but to summarize my path that lies ahead: My goal to replace my bad Benq drive that has never been flashed/modded with a brand new TS drive. I suppose I'll want to use the new iExtreme 1.5 firmware so I can play a couple of backed up games. With that in mind, I...

Re: iPrep 8.8 - DosFlash finding 8 banks on Benq?
Ok, I got it. It seems to have been a combination of the driver version and the on/off/state of the drive. I saw the SST firmware a couple more times in my fight to get the firmware. I'm not sure if the previous error I was getting was hardware failure or an overheat. I find an overheat really odd s...

Re: iPrep 8.8 - DosFlash finding 8 banks on Benq?
I GOT IT!!! It's the damn drivers! Only version 5.30c will work! I had previously tried 5.80c and 5.20c as well as some legacy DOS drivers. For the first time ever, I got a glimpse of the Benq firmware. Now, my problem is that the Xbox goes into hardware failure mode before I can complete the firmw...

Re: iPrep 8.8 - DosFlash finding 8 banks on Benq?
I'm trying to figure out if maybe I missed a step somewhere. I keep seeing mention of unlocking the drive and I've seen mention of "FirmGuard". It still baffles me that I'm seeing the SST chip because I can't find an SST chip anywhere.

Re: iPrep 8.8 - DosFlash finding 8 banks on Benq?
I'd be willing to send it to anyone who is skilled and has tools available beyond just interfacing via SATA (chip readers, probes, etc). All I ask for is the drive key in return and a promise to send it back if you can't.

Re: iPrep 8.8 - DosFlash finding 8 banks on Benq?
Really now? Hey, I'm all about getting the key out of this thing. I've got a brand new Sammy just waiting for a key so my console will be good as new again.

Re: iPrep 8.8 - DosFlash finding 8 banks on Benq?
I'm going to Google it again and see if I can find that reference you found. Until now, I was the only one I knew of with this problem but that may be where my local contact posted his problem which means it's the same drive  Also, thanks guys, I feel like I've gotten more honest consideration ...
