hi done wot you all have said then went to flash ixterme came up with this Flashing Hacked f/w to Hitachi 0046/0047 by Mode Select Method via WIN32 API UnLocked! Dumping Flash:Configure Upload Failed any help would be great cheers leeds ps ... ive sorted it now it was me being a bit thick thx again :D

ive watched the tut on flashing the older hitachi drives , mi drive has never been flashed b4 so im woundering do i still have to put it in mode b b4 i go flash ixtreme ? or do i put the drive in mode b then go to flash ixtreme ?

Check that you haven't got the floppy cable inserted the wrong way around mate. If the worst comes to the worst you can probably pick up a floppy drive for next to nothing and use that. Failing that you could try Jungleflasher. I've used it quite a lot (before the iprep fix) and so far it's been great (although i have a problem with it and Hitachis but thats no biggie) cheers ...

Just managed to download the manual for your mb. According to it you are supposed to set first device to removable (with your usb already attached) then go to the removable tab and make sure its selected? Depending on the model number you should be able to update it through a utility called ASUS EZ Flash. Check the Asus website with your model number and see if its compatible. Its also worth noting down your bios version when the pc starts up and checking to see what the latest one offers. cheers m8...

Try prepping your iprep stick again then typing A: in first (if the commands D: as you're booting with a cd) and see if it changes to the A:\ prompt, which would be strange as ms-dos normally uses the A: prompt exclusively for floppy drives but it can't hurt to try. just tryed that ...
