Right managed to do it. realised i was doing it right, the problem was when i checked that ix 1.51 was flashed on the drive by re dumping it it just comes back as stock on classsic mode even though it was on there. process is flash with ixtreme in hitachi tab goto fw tool and load in benq fw and pre...

no as i said earlier the pcb is wacked. there is a small hole been blown out underneath the largest chip.

got the epoxy off with a hair dryer and a small screwdriver, now for the tricky desoldering and soldering!! any tips i've never soldered chips onto boards before? sorry for the running posts just keeping you updated!!

think i found the firmware chip (see below)so just need to desolder and resolder to working board!! its covered in epoxy whats the best way to remove this without damaging the chip before desoldering? think i'm slowly gettimg there!!!

just an up date on the problem, i think it just got bigger. i just opened the broken benq drive and had a look at the pcb and underneath the largest chip on the the left there is a small hole that has been blown out!!! i would say the pcb is wacked. so i would say my only hope is to desolder the key...

i've tried dosflash32 and it doesn't seem to recognise the drive. swapping the pcb sounds interesting. is there anyway to tell if this will work (a hardware problem as you say), my drive isn't responding at all so wouldn't that suggest that the pcb is nackard, so putting this in a working drive wont...

Hey just had my box do a funny thing it just froze and now when i reboot it i get this checker-board pattern on the screen and it doesn't go any futher, no red ring just the normal green light!! what type of error is this? can this error be fixed? has anyone tried the xclamp replacement with this or...

well after a trip from uk to Germany to Prague and back the ups man delivered it back today unfixed with a note from microsoft stating that the console had been tampered with (which it has) bo*****cks!!!!!!! so i might try to reflow the board in my oven :geek: and then in no joy put it up for spares...

UPS just picked it up, will let everyone know how it goes!! fingers crossed. just out of interest has anyone had theres fixed by microsoft and then opened it up to see what they've done? do they just switch motherboards?

Man think i'm gonna deffo send mine back then. think i'll flash the drive back to stock just to be safe but leave the xclamp off, will let everyone know how it goes. regarding this iprep problem, i have my original firmware an so can change its name to .bin for both files and create the folders 1234...

my xbox has finally biten the dust booo! i have fixed a few times over the past year using the RROD fix on this site and most recently the shim fix, but now nothing is working so i,m considering re flashing to stock firmware and re-attaching the xclamps and putting my in tacked warranty sticker back...
