Hitachi 0059 drive flashing suggestions..

I have done many benq and sammys...I just got a hitachi 0059. can someone please direct me to the easiest way with a tutorial for flashing this 0059. I have read about slax connectivity kits etc. but Im a bit confused about the slax disc. also if there is a connectivity kit where can I purchase one if thats the easiest. I already have the 1.4 ixtreme fw.

well you can do a older hit drive with slax.I dont believe its the easiest way.

i think the best way is with a x360 usb to sata and connectivity kit.

here is a video of doing a restore and flash of a older hit drive.
you have to do a restore if the drive has been flashed before if the drive is stock you can go strait to the flashing.

as long as you can get it in modeB you are good to go.

Cofree, I flashed the hit successfully in a matter of 10 minutes without the connectivity kit. heres How I did it. I have the raid sata card I used for my benq and sammy drives installed already with drivers. I proceeded to boot up my computer and turn on the 360 simultaneousely. slax booted...when it said spinning..I hit the eject and went into mode b. I shut down and rebooted computer. One little problem I did notice is that when i rebooted the computer it did not want to go into windows it kinda froze..so I pulled the sata cable out and plugged it back in after the windows screen popped up. It instantaneously recognized it as another dvd drive...I then clicked on flashix...and follwed the prompts..thanks for the help.

Glad you got it man. What your describing about Windows freezing up when trying to boot with a mode b enabled hitachi attached is actually a quite common problem that no one seems to be able to figure out the exact cause. But most are able to do like you did and unplug the sata cable and wait for the windows loading screen to plug it in.

yeh i still cudn't get 0078fk drive into mode b but i dont think you need it for hit 0059dj drives, my one i just connected it to onboard sata, connectivity kit klicked on flash and it done it within 30 seconds, i find it quite easy than actually using slax but when it comes to 0078fk drives you will have to work with slax. glad you got it.

you're not having much luck with the 78's are you??

I would try it on as many different computers as I could 'til I cracked it. Sounds like a harware problem to me (I couldn't get my VIA to work with slax at all, managed it with nForce though...)

If you still have problems, I work in Birmingham, I could always pick it up
