Drivers for VIA VT6421A pci card?

Post by Bren »

Hi I need the latest drivers for my sata card. When I go on device manager there is a yellow icon which means I need to upgrade the drivers on my VIA VT6421 RAID Controller. I understand drivers that work are the v5.50b version but I can't find them. This is what I get in device manager. http://img527.imageshack.us/my.php?imag ... d01lp3.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It is actually a VIA VT6421A pci card so I’m not sure why the “A” Is not showing in device manager on windows xp. It also used to say SCSI VIA RAID Controller 3249 untill I found some Version 530C firmware .
http://www.viaarena.com/Drive..._v530c.zip" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; here but its no good as I still get the

"An internal STACK overflow has caused tthis session to be halted. Change the STACK setting in your CONFIG.SYS file, and then try again." When trying to flash my ms28 drive to the latest firmware from 1.2b.

I never had any problems with an older version of iprep and 1.2bfirmware and used my onboard sata port.

Thanks for your time.

Thanks mate I installed those drivers but still no look. I still get the "An internal STACK overflow has caused tthis session to be halted. Change the STACK setting in your CONFIG.SYS file, and then try again." when trying to dump my ms28 drive. Inside the machine there are two sata slots one on the top and one on the side I have tried them both but still get this same message, once I did manage to dump the drive but when it came to flashing I then got stack overflow error. On device manager it says everything is working fine. Will you check out these pics n let me no if everything looks ok to you.

How come the latest ipreps don't support onboard via chipsets anymore as when I first flashed my ms28 drive with the iextreme 1.2b firmware and and old version of iprep everything went smoothly.

I think these pics show that my via vt6421a is working fine.

if you are trying this on a onbo sata it is almost impossible to get that to work.
get the sata card.
http://tekgems.com/Products/la-pci22-vt6421a.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

do you have a floppy in this computer.if you dont go into the bios and make sure that the floppy is disabled.
try a different flash drive also.

http://img368.imageshack.us/my.php?imag ... d01ih1.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - iprep seems to be showing my vt6421a card fine

http://img368.imageshack.us/my.php?imag ... d02oe1.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - this is iprep showing my onboard sata the one I first used using the old iprep and 1.2b firmware but it doesn't work with the latest iprep.

http://img91.imageshack.us/my.php?image ... d01jw5.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - this is the old iprep I used and my onboard sata that I used firstly to flash my drive with 1.2b. How come it doesn't work like this anymore.

from what ive read .some say it a driver thing.i dont see how.
the only thing i can say is get the card if you are not using it.

Thanks for the link. I got my sata card off ebay awhile ago which claimed to work with the 360 but the cd it came with it with the drivers on didn't work. On the box it says "connect up to 3 data & 1 IDE Device" so I guess its the combo your talking about.

I do have another spare sata pci card lying around its a Silicon image satalink sil3112act144. Do you think thats worth trying. It does however have 3 sata ports onit also though.

I don't have a floppy but I'll check everything in bios.

no way will that other sata card work.for a sam you have to have a via6421a orL chipset.

yea make sure that the floppy is turned off in the bios.
well if your driver cd did not work i guess it could have a bad driver even with it showing good in the D.M.
sadalius would be better than me on computer questions.

Do you think its worth me buying a new card. I've had a look on ebay the ones that ship from the UK appear to be the same name as the one I already have plus they look the same from the picture. I'm guessing I will still have the same problems with them cards even if I bought another. I'm not sure if its a hardware problem or not.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/XBOX-360-VIA-6421 ... otohosting" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Any recommendations on another card from ebay I could try. Most seem to be from hong kong, I'm in england so would prefer a seller from the UK.

I contacted an ebay seller and he assured me that the latest drivers are v5.70a. I've checked the via site but can't find them, it just seems to want me to install some program that auto detects driver updates etc.

what version of iprep are you using?? have you updated the definitions??
  • http://www.x-projects.org/download.php?list.4

    Download > iPrep 101 v006
    Then download the update > iPrep 101 v006.1
    and add it to your iprep installation folder overwriting the orginal executable

    Then run : Tools > Check for updates from the iprep menu to make sure your definitions file is up2 date
It's all relative ;)

Also.. make sure you have no other drives connected to your mobo whilst dumping & flashing...

The only thing you want connected is the usb flash & the xbox drive to the sata card... unplug all the the other sata devices

& use the internal port on the card : /viewtopic.php?f=63&t=1611&p=9564#p9564
