Using PCMCIA(laptop) to flash BenQ

Post by madgamasta »

Is there anyway possible to flash a xbox360 BenQ with a PCMCIA SATA cardbus. I've read many many other places where the samsung and hitachi where flashed this way. I'm asking because I only have a laptop where i've currently moved to and parents house is two hours away and I really want to flash my XBOX i've got a lil girl that will be getting into thing soon.

Also, if that's not possible but my HDD and CD/DVDR drives both use SATA within the laptop is there away that I could connect to the XBOX that way. (preferred)

Thanks in advance!

well if you have read that someone got iprep to work on a PCMCIA with a samsung or a benq.
i dont think so.
i have tried many PCMCIA on my laptop and can not get any to work.

there maybe a way to get dos flash to do it,but i dont know.maybe one of the other guys will have some input.
yes there are some PCMCIA that will work with the hit dvd drives.

if you took the hard drive out of your laptop and had the right chipset.after you boot on to a usb flash that may work, but thats a big may.

i think your best bet is to buy a cheap old used computer and put in a via6421a or l sata card.

buy the way i moved this to the right spot. ;)

pcmcia will work with a hit drive because you do the dumping/flashing in windows & the card is recognised by the windows drivers...

Getting a pcmcia card to run under DOS is a lot more difficult... pcmcia controllers have ltd if any support under DOS....
I guess it depends if your laptop manufacturer provides DOS drivers.

There is the option of using enablers but I have tried this before with no success - 1 day when I have time I will re-visit & try again.

Have you tried taking the laptop HDD out and plugging directly into that? I really want to get this thing working from my laptop seeing that buying a old pc wouldn't do me any good if i can't use it for anything else.
