Check xboxhacker, that's the most likely place to find that kind of info: http://www.xboxhacker.net/index.php?PHP ... ecdc15;www" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

There is no ETA in the lite-on firmware. They haven't been able to figure out how to dump the drive yet. Seems getting the dump is going to be the major hurdle with the lite-on drives.

yea i'm sure it will happen one day, but even then i don't think it'll be easy like the benq.

right guys ?

i mean is it possible that this drive could be just software flashed without any physical modding ?

i sure hope so....but i dunno.

Yes. It is very possible to flash this drive with no physical modifications. In fact that is how the drive is designed, a software flash that is. However, the way the authentication circuitry on the board and the flash chip is setup, you can't get a dump of the drive. Its designed to never be able to dump this drive. When an new firmware is intended for this drive, an authentication process is ran through and if it passes, it will allow the flashing to take place. That presents a problem because if we can't get a dump, we can rightly make a new firmware and its highly unlikely that lite-on will just give us the source code for the drive. The bigwig hackers do think they can get around the authentication for the flash though.

If the hardware is not there to interperet commands to dump the FW, then it's going to be a struggle for anyone...

Does anyone have a clue where the drive key is stored yet??

not that i know
that is the first step is getting the key.
then at least you could spoof in a different dvd drive and it work.
but flashing in is not a problem as far as i understand it.
getting to see/read the firmware is the pain.until then is a no go with the lite-on.
