flashing a benq drive

Post by waybrane »

well, i haven't seen this topic yet. hope i don't get added to the stupid question pile, but here goes. i'm trying to get the original dump. using an onboard sata (i know, buy the card), but i'm getting it to read the D1, but after that it just loops. from 0xD1 to 0x51, iprep says its compatible. so i guess i'm trying to figure out what i'm doing wrong. sorry folks if this going to be a stupid one, but i could use some help. :?

ok, i did a search and it seems that it could just the compatibility problem with card, even though it acts like it wants to read, weird that iprep would say that it is compatible. oh. well, budget is tight, but i might have to order the card anyway. already in the middle of the flash. feel pretty silly now, but if i'm wrong please correct me.

I can almost guarantee its going to be the compatibility issue. There are very few on board satas that will work. Even though it looks like it should work, chances are it won't. I would get the card, but there may be one or two on here that are willing to help you try to get the on board working. You will probably just end up pulling your hair out! :D

Best option is to use the via 6421 card... in saying that I have had success with other controllers.
It would help if you tell us exactly what the onboard sata controller is & also your operating system that you prepare iprep boot disk/key in - at least that way we can offer more accurate advice ;)

wasn't tryin to not include that info, but i have an obsure system. i recently got a system through a local college for cheap and it so happened to have a sata onboard. i thought, well, maybe i can use that some day. well ,i thought i had found the perfect way to use it.......anyhow, its a Nobilis windows xp system, the best i can come up with is that it has a Intel D915GAG motherboard w/onboard sata. not familiar with it at all. i have a stupid question though, when they tell me on the tutorial's to enter the serial number fBen 123456 12345, am i suppose to enter my actual serial number from the back of my xbox 360? if so, that might be part of my problem and if so, boy, do i feel really dumb??///???

Nah you can enter any 12 digit number you want, 1234567 12345 is fine.

well, i finally got my xbox 360 benq drive modded! took me a minute even when i got the via6421a sata card. it was strange that the system took precise timing and just being hard headed enough to keep trying to get the card to read and erase and write to the system. but it finally paided off. one thing i guess i would suggest to everyone, is when they say its 2 seconds, they aren't kidding. i almost had to turn it on and then off to make the two second intervals. but it seem to make a big difference in my mod. i did try the iprep v7 and i didn't find a good tut for it yet. so i went back to iprep v6 and it worked fine for me. i guess i could have tooked the suggestion to use the dos32 but i did not find alot ppl having success with it, so i opted for the iprep, which is what i would suggest to anyone. it seemed to be the easiest. but i wanted to thank everyone for their help and comments. and wish you all the best of luck in whatever your're doing, have a great day and THANK YOU! :D

yea i dunno i think long as you have compatible onboard sata (nforce 3 or 4) an i believe some others too, then there shouldn't be a problem with dos32.

oh well glad you got it working man, have fun with it.

Good job on getting it man. I don't think it was meant to be easy, that's why M$ spends millions on keeping it from happening! :D Once you do get it though it's a pretty satisfying feeling. 8-)
