Just to let you know Sess, when I did the x-clamps on yours, I used AS5 for the thermal compound. Thats not saying that it couldn't have lost its vescosity and hardened up, but in that short amount of time, its doubtful.

I didn't realize it was fixed recently so maybe its not the paste

I used ceramique and that only lasted 2 months. but i did fall asleep with my box powered on once. :o

I switched to AS5 and that was fine for 4-5 months.

I tried tightening the center screws a 1/2 turn, it worked for a bit before locking up in DBZ Burst Limit. Not sure, it may just be a goner.

I'm not throwing it out, I'm just not gonna stress about fixing it. If you guys have any more suggestions I'm definitely still open to them.

sorry to hear that man, but if u have access to a heat gun just try that, or just use a blow drier on it just for fun as you said its a gonner. last thing you could try is reapplying the paste and using a different kind of heatsink, mayb put the heatsink in a freezer and try press it against the chip and try like that lol. thats all i can say man dont give up, there mite b a way.

Thanks for the effort CoFree. Even if it never works again, I'm happy that Sadalius gave it a second life to begin with.

it is the right way to fix a chip/ic that has cold solder joints.
this is one of the places im going to talk to.it may just cost to damn much.
http://www.sixsigmaservices.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
you take off the ic.clean everything well.then you put a very small amount of solder on each solder point on the chip then put it back on the mobo.
the equipment that is needed is expenses and the charge for this service can be a bit pricey.

the way i look at it.
is if we can not get something going with the lite-on drive.we are going to have to find a way to keep our older 360 console going.
with M$ putting a lite-on drive in all the consoles that go in for repair we have to keep our older con sole going now more than ever.
