Alright my question has to do with SATA Compatibility. The xbox 360 I am trying to flash has a Benq dvd drive and I am wondering if my on board chipset is compatible.
I have read the Tutorial but still am unsure, so hopefully someone can help shed some light on this for me. My motherboard is a ASUS P5N-E SLI ( http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3& ... odelmenu=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ), is it compatible? Or will I have to invest in the VIA VT6421 PCI SATA card? When I look under device manager>IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers it gives me this list....
ATA Channel 0
ATA channel 1
NVIDIA nForce Serial ATA Controller
Standard AHCI1.0 Serial ATA Controller
Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller
I'm sorry if this is a dumb question. I'm far from a computer expert. Thanks everyone

Re: Help with Benq Flash
Hey there. My mobo also had an onboard SATA controller that was "listed" as having the right chipset...but it wouldn't work no matter how hard I tried. The most frustrating part of trying to use an onboard SATA controller is not knowing where the problem is coming from. You always find yourself rooting for the controller to not be the problem, so you divert your attention to other things, when in fact, it most likely is the SATA controller.
My suggestion to you: try it once with your onboard controller...if you run into *any* compatibility issues, you'll know you need to shell out the $12 for the VIA VT6421 and it will be worth it!

Re: Help with Benq Flash
yes as neorio said you can always try to read the drive see if you get two good files with the key, if its good then its compatible if you get errors while reading then i guess u will need to get the card.
this is the guide on how to dump the firmware
viewtopic.php?f=110&t=277" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
make sure you check the key first, it should have different numbers and letter, use toolbox to check it.

Re: Help with Benq Flash
with an nforce chipset make sure (if you can) that you set your bios sata mode to AHCI. That's the only setting that I could get to work with the benq. I think it's in the advance chipset settings page...

And if at first you don't succeed..? Order the damn card!
