Problem flashing MS28... wont give the final 4 banks

hi people,

first lemme tell u guyz the config i have...

Windows XP
VIA VT8237S SATA RAID controller
iPrep 101 v006 and also tried iPrep 101 v007.3
Samsung iXtreme firmware v1.4
Samsung drive MS28
using NTFSDOS cd to boot
trying bad flash method.

i guess all the required info is given... now the problem...

as lot of people here i have modded multiple xbox 360s both samsung and benq using the same config... my console is working fine... but today when i was trying to mod my friends console nothing seems to be working

first i used iprep and prepared the destination n all that... booted up ntsfdos and used the regular
DSAM xxxxxxx xxxxx command to dump and everything went well using the 10 second trick... i got the SUCCESS SCREEN... which means i was able to back up the OG firmware without n e problems

i rebooted my pc and then used the FSAM xxxxxxx xxxxx command after which it gave me the 3 options to select my drive... which i did just as usual... before selecting the drive i switched off my console and then waited for 10 seconds... i switched on my console and then i got the first BANK OK... during the second BANK it got stuck on 16%... it stayed there for a long time... i thought of redoing the flashing part...

rebooted the comp and followed the steps once again... now the problem is that once i switch off my console after giving the FSAM command and later select my drive and wait for 10 second and then switch it on, the console wont do anything nor does the pc...

nothing happens after i switch on my console after 10 seconds all i get on the screen is

PORT: FC00, MASTER/SLAVE: A0

i no more get the banks... what can be the problem... plz people help me with this and i will never forget the favor... i need urgent help...

you dont get the xtreme pri master at all now
if that is the case then the computer is not seeing the dvd drive now.


there are some things you can try.
try a different sata cable.
make sure that the pci sata card is working
try it with a flash or a floppy disc.
dont lose that orig firmware you got.
open it with firmware toolbox and make sure the key is good.

thank u for the reply brother... after i type FSAM xxxxxxx xxxxx and hit enter i see that it shows up the drive, i mean i can see some XTREME as option 3 which i normally select... after using the 10 second trick nothing happens... everything worked fine while dumping the firmware...

i will the steps u gave me right away...

if you are powering your drive with the console itself make sure you have properly turned it off when doing the 10 second trick - sometimes u think it's powered down but can still hear the fans!

It's also a good idea to unplug all other devices.. hard drives etc.

but as cofree states above // always check the key is valid before anything else.

yes i have checked thoroughly whether the console is off or not... when i get the orange light on the brick only then i proceed with the steps further...
to check the key in the OG firmware... i loaded it up in firmware toolbox and it showed it as Samsung firmware... how do i exactly check for the key whether its valid or not...

just power cycle it from the front - not the brick...
but make sure the console switches fully off when you do the 10sec trick.

it needs to be a random string of numbers/letters to be good
if it is all 0000's or FFFF's it's bad!

i edited your post man.
not a good idea to put up a real key.

well not that we know you have a good dump.

i would start over
dump the drive then go right into flash.

if it listing the xtreme pri master then the computer is seeing the drive
work on your 10 sec time.
a little more or less.

we me it has always been 10 sec on the nose.

Do not lose the orig firmware with the key.

im sorry to put up the OG key... i have tried to start the whole procedure again n again but now the 10 second trick wont work even while backing up... yes the computer can see XTREME drive so it is detecting the drive... once i switch off the console and then select the drive and then wait for 10 seconds ( have tried 5 8 10 12 15 20 etc etc seconds ) and then power on the console but the banks are not coming as they should... it wont even back up any thing now... when i run the console it shows up the E65 error...

error 65 is a firmware error (or dvd drive problem) as far as i know.

its sounding like a hardware problem with the dvd drive.
the only thing i can thing of is try to get a dump/flash on a different computer.
or get a hold of a different v28 dvd drive and test your computer setup by doing a dump of that v28 drive.

when you put the dvd drive back in the console will it play dvd movies
if it will then i would think its in your computer some how.

you could always try the enable0800 disc.. this might just help get things moving

also make sure all other hard drives & cd drives are disconnected (it helps )

okie brother i will try using 0800 disc and i will also make that all the other HDD r disconneted...

ok try putting that floppy on the side, DONT LOSE IT, and try the dump and flash with a new floppy. i recently did a benq and had this problem, we needed to do a restore on the drive and than tryd a new dump and flash with the new floppy.

it turned out that our floppy had just failed on us, so after we got the OR FW dumped on the new floppy we junked the old 1
