The US Consumer Product Safety Commission has initiated a recall of Rage Wireless Guitars after receiving a report that the peripheral had caused a burn injury to one of its users.
The wireless guitars, which were manufactured in China, are said to have defective circuit boards which can cause batteries to leak and burn the user. Consumers have been urged to return the peripherals to their retailers for a full refund.
Manufacturer Performance Designed Products estimates that 57,000 units have already been sold.
China has grown a bad reputation for manufacturing standards. Back in August 2007 toy giant Mattel had to recall over 18m made-in-China toys that had traces of lead in their paint.
