hi folks,
read the other posts and still finding difficulty in swapping drive,
attempting to swap a hitachi for a brand new Samsung ms28.
managed to extrace key from hitachi and spoof it.
Not totally clear wot i do next.
I powered everything off and swapped the drive over in the 360, i now have the ms28 drive in and the power cable attached.
I boot of usb prepared by iprep, everything ok, plug sata cable in, do the 10 sec trick, with dsam 1234567 12345
extreme drive comes up OK.
starts reading, then says power off pc then jumps to error message NO Valid Key found, as far as i am led to believe this is bad and i cant progress.
Have i missed out something.
?
I have successfully flashed drives before but this is my first swap.
Any ideas or theories much appreciated.
many thanks
GJH
No valid Key from new samsung ms28 drive..
Re: No valid Key from new samsung ms28 drive..
1 get the key from the console orig dvd drive.in this case you said a hit drive.
2 use firmware toolbox open the samsung firmware that is for your drive.copy and paste the key in.now click save key.
3 now spoof firmware as your hit dvd drive.
4 now flash it in the sam dvd drive
this will flash in a stock firmware.
if you want to flash in a hacked firmware just open a sam hack firmware that is for your sam dvd drive.
keep in mind that what you are doing is tricking the console into thing it has the same orig dvd drive in it.
if your console had a hit you have to spoof a samsung firmware to report as a hit for it to work in the console.
let me know how you get on.

Re: No valid Key from new samsung ms28 drive..
CoFree is dead on. Keep in mind that if this sammy is brand new, it won't have a valid key. Most likely, it will have all 0's for the key. You need to inject your key into the original fw and then spoof it.

Re: No valid Key from new samsung ms28 drive..
thanks for the info guys, will try again tonight and let you know how i get on.
makes sense that with the samsung being new and not tied to a 360 then there shouldnt be a valid key.
thanks

u need to dump the samsung & build the hacked firmware in iprep > dsam xxxxxxx xxxxxgjh wrote:made new ixtreme firmware with new key

Then boot into windows & open up the hacked firmware (SAM-CFW.bin) in "firmware toolbox"
> paste in the key / apply >> spoof to hitachi version / apply
then boot back into iprep & flash the hacked / key injected / spoofed firmware > fsam xxxxxxx xxxxx
NOTE:
>> if you don't want to flash with xtreme 1.4 then open SAM-OFW.bin & modify that instead -
then instead of running the fsam command run : rsam xxxxxxx xxxxx <<

Re: No valid Key from new samsung ms28 drive..

Re: No valid Key from new samsung ms28 drive..
yep... doesn matter about the key because you are going to change thatgjh wrote:when i do dsam it reads but fails to get a valid key(Cos its new drive)

*assuming you have a valid key from your hitachi drive?*
just make sure you run it in "firmware toolbox" & make the necessary changes

Re: No valid Key from new samsung ms28 drive..
