Troubles Spoofing Hitachi rom 47 with a BenQ

Post by primaryanger »

Well this may go on for a bit but let me explain. I have a Hitachi 47 drive that has XTRM MAX 47 v2.3 popping up when i read the Orig.bin file in FWtoolbox 4.8. Took me forever to find that bin. Anyways the reader no longer reads any type of DVD media. I think the pot is shot. Adjustments in either direction fail to change the meter read on it. So my friends 360 RRODS and he gives me the reader out of it. FWtoolbox 4.8 reports the drive currently running iXtreme v1.1a. Well I copyed the key of the 47 and overwrote the Benq's key and saved Key. Then went to tools and Spoofed the Drive to model a ROM 47. Saved the file as orig.bin and thru it in the Benq 12x folder and ran the ixtremem batch file to stealthed 12x. Changed the name of that file to benq-CFW.bin and threw it on an Iprep 1.6 bootable USB with the Benq-OFW.bin. Boot the usb, drive hit Y then type in a made up serial because I no longer have the case for either of these's readers homes. it finds 73 instantly and erases bank 1 and states finished. the it tells me to shut off the xbox and hit a button to continue. Well if I leave the drive on and hit any button it writes to all 4 banks and gives me a datasum. If I turn it off and do the 2 second thing it hangs everytime. So I been going the leave it on route. Well I always get Please insert disc into a 360 error everytime I test. I believe that is what is states. So here are my actual questions, finally huh? Does the serial of the 360 have anything to do with the actual flash or is it just for my reference? And, Once my drive is spoofed to 47 and I got to ixtreme batch it should I be batching it with 47 firmware or benq firmware. Probally retarded, but I am kinda stuck.

Using an Nvidia 430 chipset PC.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok I found a post that answered the serial # question. I also read some posts about Sata chipset compatibility. I know my Nforce 430 will do this BENq because I was the one that modded it originally. One thing is I don't remember what method I used to flash it. Wondering if iprep 1.6 is my problem. Should I be using DosFlash.

Me replying to me, hehe

ok.. your post is quite confusing because it's not paragraphed & quite hard to follow...

but..
my advice to you would be to return the benq to stock firmware, re-dump, then apply spoof & key & re-flash with xtreme 1.4 (built from the re-dump).

obtain the correct firmware from this page : http://zkaerfdom.xtreemhost.com/_menue/Firmware.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

then.. follow these instructions step by step
  • >prepare your iprep drive with latest firmware
    >unpack the stock firmware & rename the file to BENQ-OFW.bin

    >navigate to the iprep drive & locate the BACKUPS folder & create another folder inside called benq
    >inside this folder create another folder & call it stock
    >copy & past your stock firmware(BENQ-OFW.bin) to the stock folder

    >boot into iprep & run the command : rben benq stock

This will return the drive to stock ;)

DO NOT EXIT iPREP - we have not finished here

    >next - run the command: dben benq spoof

This will dump the drive & more importantly create the xtreme 1.4 hacked firmware ;)

    >boot back into windows & naviagate to the folder BACKUPS/benq/spoof
    >locate the file BENQ-CFW.bin & open it in firmware toolbox
    >inject the key & apply the spoof

    >boot back into iprep & run the command: fben benq spoof

This will flash the drive with the latest firmware / along with the injected key & spoof info
some might argue you can limit the processes down & this might be true.. but if u do it this way it will certainly work ;)
If you do it another way I can think of it might hve a problem building the hacked firmware...

You need a benq firmware (CFW from your iprep dump), with the key and spoof information of the drive you originally have in your 360. If it's a hit 47, spoof the benq fw to report as one...

msk, is as usual much quicker and concise than I :P

if you lose that orig dvd drive key
its game over.

I really appreciate cool people who take the time to help others and don't be little them. You guys rock. Unfortunately I am still having issues. I take it the key injection is working because the Ben will play dvd movies on the Hitachi motherboard. But Retail 360, 360 backups and xbox1 games all give me the"Put disc into a xbox console to play" error.

Any ideas guys?

BTW Great Tut! that's what brought me to Robinhood's in the first place ;)

no this means that either the key is wrong or the spoof is unsuccessful // or both

check the firmware in firmware toolbox & confirm everything is as it should be

eg. it display the correct key
eg. it displays the drive as spoofed to drive you have replaced

ok man

you have messed something.
1st any dvd drive will play a dvd movie in any console.
the only way a dvd drive will play a 360 game is if the key and/or the spoof is right.

you have to have a benq firmware.Put the orig key from the hit dvd drive in the benq firmware.
then you need to spoof the BENQ firmware so it will report as a hit dvd drive.
the flash it in the benq drive.

do not lose that orig key from the hit dvd drive.

Ok after further research one of my buddies who I mod for had a 0078 around the same time these bins were edited. So this key apparently belongs to one of his old consoles. Freaking 12 xboxes and 3 OS reinstalls later. Grrrr. I can't verify the key on the Hit because the dvd pot is hammered. ModeB isn't an issue but the disc verify right before the dump screws me. Sorry I wasted so much of your time guys.

Wo0t issue solved! Found a program called 79_unlock. Allowed me to grab the orig.bin from MODEB without having to spin up the drive. So anyone out there with a 78 and a bad DVD Pot and a lost orig.bin. Lots of ands. Hope is not lost.
