Installing a new ms28 drive and flashing help.

Ok I tired the enable0800 but the drive wont even eject. I did notice the lights on the front of the Xbox. it lights 1 light out of the ring and then lights the 2nd light (in a clockwise direction when the xbox is laid down) red. However when the drive is not plugged in its ok. So I suspect its the drive. I then tried the new drive and it does the same.

This only happens when the SATA cable to the drive is plugged in.

if the drive won't eject with the eject button use an unfolded paper clip & firmly push the manual eject tray switch... simple things

all u need is the key from the bad drive.. u don't need to connect it to the xbox sata to do this

And where is the eject button? I presume you mean on on the actual DVD drive and not the one on the front of the console.

The drive wont even read the disk.

That goes for both drives.

well
i would take the old one apart.take the top off.
then eject put a disc (old one) in and close the tray.
the drive should try to spin it up.
stop it fast if it starts spinning.

I have done this. It just does not spin at all.

Before I do this. Don't you think its a bit wierd that both the drives will not spin up at all with or without disks.

yea it is
even if you just put the other dvd drive in the console it should play a dvd movie.

At this point i would get my meter out and start checking some volts.

that is just not something im going to mess with here man.

is there any way for you to try one or both of these dvd drive in a different console.
at least with a movie

No other console >_>.

Will have a look at the connections. Just wierd that MTKflash will pick up both drives, but I cannot read the firmware. And they both get the error code 1001 when plugged into the xbox.
