need help with My first BenQ flashing

Post by gjh »

hi folks,
Flashed Hitachi and samsung drives in the past, this is my first benq ATTEMPT.
Been following the video and i am not to sure when to power drive on.
I boot usb stick with BENQ IPREP on it.
Boot pc up, 360 not connected or powered on.
connect sata cable, 360 power is off
type dben 1234567 12345
press enter, drive still off.
to retry MTK press yes

Now is drive still off, then press yes stack doesnt change just sits at status 00FF, turn 360 on and nothing changes.
Am i missing something.
Thanks for reading.
cheers

Where would it see the drive?
With Samsung drives i get Xtreme master listed, i dont see anything in the guide for a benq that actually shows the drive listed. Makes sense tho.

the benq is slightly different...

you need to boot iprep, then power the drive. When it asks you to resend the command, power the drive off, then resend the command. Turn the drive back on after 3-5 seconds, you should get D1 and the dump should start...

What are you trying to flash on??? With my nforce I don't have to turn the drive off during flashing dumping at all, but I know you do with the VIA.

Using VIA Sata card.
Should i have the sata cable connected with power off when i boot the cd or wait till iprep loaded before connecting anything. Then i power up drive before or after typing dben 1234567 12345?
thanks for the replies

you say power the drive when u boot iprep, do you leave power on when it asks you to ensure the power is off.

you can try it, it won't do harm if you're only trying to get a dump...

make sure you are using the port that you set iprep to use (try all the different ports on the card)

0xff simply means no connection.... have you tried another drive off the VIA card (HDD or PC DVD Writer??). The first one I ordered was DOA from fleabay...

too right, forgot bout that...

do your dump twice, that way you can always be sure the key is good if you get the same one (not all FFFF's or EEEE's though) in both fw dumps you know it's alright

Still no joy
Connected 360 and powered up both 360 and PC same time, sees the drive.
tried each of the 3 channels on via card still sits at status 0xff no matter what powering sequences i try.
Going to bounce this of a wall soon lol.

Any more ideas?
Samsung and Hitachi are a joy compared to this.

what are you doing..??

with via card : do it like this >

*make sure all internal drives are disconnected*
boot off the usb pen/pc into iprep
connect the sata cable at the disclaimer screen
press Y to accept disclaimer

type : dben 1234567 12345
wait for prompt that tells you to make sure drives is off & press ok/enter
(the drive does not need to powered at any time b4 this)
next the mtkflash screen will prompt you to turn the drive on & press y to resend mtk command
so.. press Y
power drive/xbox
wait for 51/d1 to flash & power drive down
wait for a few seconds power back up
reading should start

.. it's the same process for flashing ;)

just make sure you when u built the usb pen drive with iprep you checked the "patch for mtk flash" option & also you are using it in the same pc you are flashing on.

Thanks for the info m8
followed this to the letter and still sitting status 0xff
beginning to think my RAID card is buggered, going to try re reading my samsung drive to check the raid card is still good, if that works then the problem lies elsewhere.

Any more suggestions much appreciated.
