reflash to benq 1.5

Post by Zombie14 »

I had a friend of mine flash my 360 before i learned how, this was back in january, so now that 1.5 has come out i wanted to reflash it but i dont have my original firmware. so i was wondering how i can do this and if its easy or not? also im not sure what firmware he put on the drive the first time, if it was 1.41 i would just leave it but im not sure if it is. also if i were to put a game on the hd and play it, if it was not stealth patched would it matter?

any help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

you will have to extract your CFW that is on the drive now. Then copy the drive key off it with firmware toolbox. You still need an orig.bin from another BenQ drive then you can insert your drive key in that orig.bin with firmware toolbox and save it out. I never dealt with extracting CFW from the drive but I assume its the same as extracting the OFW which you can do with DosFlash or iPrep.

it will dump out the cfw in the backup folder just like a orig firmware dump.
and your key is in the "cfw"

so its almost like im redoing the entire process right? just taking the key off first? i read the textbook guide on it and it seemed pain stacking. do you think its a necessity to update? or is there a way for me to check which firmware is on there, before going thru the entire process again?

You can check what firmware is on the drive by dumping the firmware and opening the file with firmware toolbox. But from what I've read, it's pretty well recommended to upgrade because of the enhanced security features.

firm tool will build you new ix 1.5 "cfw" with your key in it
then you flash it in.
