Lite-on Flashing

Post by sadalius »

I've just done a few of these drives and I've had no problems what so ever using my Via 6421 based sata card. It is worthy to note though, that if the VIA polls the drive just after clicking the Lite-On Erase button, the computer will lock up. If this happens, you'll have to use the guide in the ix 15.txt file that comes with the ixtreme 1.5 download for DOS to get the drive to recognize and flash.

I encountered this using VIA drivers....

ended up adding Lite-on-erase to my iprep flash and voila, status 72....

did the flash back in windows with jungle flasher (built my firmware with new firmtool and dummy.bin)

The annoying thing is, I can't test the drive in anything.... Will you be able to spoof these things in with FWToolbox 5??

i also had the lockup problem.
i got a key/inq/iden files with a ck3 pro and ck3 tool
i used jungle to build me dummy and hacked firmware.
then built a iprep boot flash took all the iprep stuff off the flash (living all the dos stuff)
copied over all the files in the dos folder (in the firmware pack).
along with the firmware i made.to the root of the flash
did the erase and the flash in dos.
everything works good.

From what I've read, and this may well be why I'm not having any problems, the solution is to just chuck the VIA sata drivers all together and install the sata card using the PortIO32 driver. I did this when the PortIO32 driver started being distributed which is why I think I've had no problems.

There is a file that is stored in the system32\drivers folder that has to be deleted so windows won't re-install the VIA driver. The name of the file is viamraid.sys.

Here is a link to the DOS based dosflash method http://dwl.xbox-scene.com/iriez/lite-on ... torial.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And here is a link to the guide for installing portio32: http://dwl.xbox-scene.com/iriez/N00B_Li ... th_VIA.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I deleted my via re-install file from windows system32 folder and unistalled the drivers for the card and installed the portio. With my serial to ttl converter with a homemade probe and had no problems using jungle. I thought it worked very well. The only problem is that I had an extra hard drive connected to the via card and with portio it will not recognize it. My case isn't big enough to put into the computer so I guess I will have to go back and forth when I need that drive.

first man
you are hi-jacking a thread
you should have started your own thread.
that being said.

you have to solder the r707 point on the dvd drive board.
have a look over this.as long as you know you have a lite-on dvd drive in your console.
this is a video for iprep

this is a video for jungle flasher.
