Old xbox ms28 question

Just a quicky

My older xbox has a ms28 drive and has old xtr firmware. I belive it is the first of the stelth version. I was given 2 bin files when it was done for me (hkd and a orig)

Would it be in my best intrest to redo this with new 1.5 or should I just leave this alone as it works great?

Also I dont know what software was used or does that not matter (was done in dos). I think I remember he did some sort of spoof at the time. If I did redo could I use these old bins in jungle flash with my new ck3 lite and am I right that I would have to restore the original then start again.

I would upgrade it to 1.5 if there is even the slightest chance of putting that box on xbox live. A quick look at the hacked firmware with Firmware Toolbox will tell you what kind of spoofing has been done. It could be they replaced the original drive that came in that 360 with the samsung drive and needed to spoof it.

Iprep would be the software of choice to do the job with.

Thanks for the reply it was a new box when i had it done so was the original drive, is there something that you had to do on the 28 that you dont have to do with the 25 like turn it off or eject it to flash coz i belive that was possibly it?

Also iprep wouldn't work on the liteon i did so i thinking that it may not work with my onboard chipset. Would jungle flasher work with it? Also was I right that I would need to repace the orig.bin first?

The MS-28 had a lock on the firmware so you had to do what was called the 10 second trick to read/flash. If that samsung was original to that 360, you shouldn't have to spoof anything.

The latest iprep will work with the lite-on drives. Your on board sata might be the problem with that though. I would recommend using a VIA 6421 sata chipset with iprep and either a maximus 360 xtractor with spear or an xecuter CK3 with probe for lite-on drives.

Thanks again for the reply, i think i may have confused you the liteon i did already it is the ms28 i need to redo. I couldnt get the liteon to read in iprep but it was fine when i used jungle flasher.

this is why i was wondering if i could use jungle flasher for the ms28. that 10 seecond thing sounds about right.

so can i use jungle or would the bin files not be compatable.

You should be able to use jungleflasher. Just make sure you download the one from xbins that is for the samsung though.
