bridge r707 and r708 help!

ok before i flash my 360 when im in Dos Mode on start up when it ask for my drive key i will have to connect r707 and r708, im not a solder so i herd i could just place some metal on it so there will be a connection for example , i use a flat head screw driver and place it on r707 and r708 the key should read right? how can i do this if true i dont wanna buy a probe for one it's not really worth it and two i live in America and Mrmod chips just takes to long for me and i wanna just flash this and get on with it, and i dont really wanna slice my cables on my connectivity kit because if i mess up, im screwed so i want to know if i could just connect r707 and r708 with just a piece of metal (small flathead screwdriver) thx

I believe you hold the screwdriver over R707 points only (they line up vertically from the hole where you would probe). Someone feel free to correct me cause I have not used the screwdriver method since I made my own probe.

CRAP! lol again im back for help . i just attempted to flash my lite-on and i was going soooooooo sooooooo good then i got an error, it was like 3 errors first one day Drive key invalid (you know at the part were i must turn the drive on connect it to com port 1 eject tray switch off push tray in half way and power back on) yea i did that and at the very point right before i hit "Y" to continue i put my small screw driver on r707 to bridge and i hit enter and it said drive key invalid it also said dummy bin does not exist and one more error i forgot but yea i dont know what i did wrong!? i was watch Cofree's video on my laptop as i flashed my lite-on on my desktop! and it said drive key invalid and some files not found and one did not even exist the one that did not exist was 2159456/61906/dummy.bin ( those numbers are my 360's serial) but it said it did not exist any help i would LOVE! thx in advance



i guessing it's my screw driver it did not work well....ok i guess i will just order the probe, does anyone know if i can buy it from a company based in America and not the UK? thx a million

I would say you ain't getting a dummy.bin file due to the bridging on the r07

If you don't want to buy a spear, one of the guys posted this as a method he used. I haven't tried it, but if it works safely then there's no real need for a probe...

I have used the screwdriver method. It does work, but with recent news about maximus's xtractor software not working right, it leads me to believe that maybe the CK3 tool may suffer the same bug when it comes to reading the key and such. I wouldn't recommend using either of those to get the key and other two files. I would use jungleflasher or iprep. The thing is, You need to have your drive prepped before you open jungleflasher. You need to have powered on the drive, ejected the tray, powered it off and put the try back in half closed position before running jungleflasher or iprep, if using iprep, get it in half open position before running the dlit command. Also, it would pay to have a friend help you while doing this because neither jungleflasher or iprep has a timer to give you enough time to bridge R707 while trying to get the key and other 2 files. You need to double check to make sure that your connectivity kit is setup to use the right com port and the right sata port as well. I like using jungleflasher to get they key and other two files and to create the hacked firmware, then use either iprep or dosflash to flash with. The reason being is because when everything is connected up right, jungleflasher will list the drive when it's properly detected. If your going to use the screwdriver method, I would recommend you to bridge the R707 with the screwdriver and then let your friend click the get key button when your sure that you have a good connection on R707.

You have to make sure that jungleflasher is set to use the right ports though. When I first set mine up, I used CK3 tool to figure out which ports everything was on. If your using a CK3 pro or lite, the CK3 tool will help you find the right ports. Just open up CK3 tool, then click on the settings tab. There will be two sections, the COM port section and the IDE/Sata Port section. On the com port section, make sure your CK3 is connected up and powered on. Then click the Find USB Port button. It will find the COM port that the CK3 is on. Either remember that or write it down. Then in the IDE/SATA port section, click the Find System Ports button. It will find a lot of ports, but the ones that your looking for will the listed under Controller: VIA VT6421 RAID Controller [SATA] and should have 2 or 3 choices for ports. Mine shows up as Base: B000 control A800 for my correct sata port. Yours may be the same or it could be different. If you have some sort of drive connected to the port and powered on, you can click on the one that you think it is, then select that port in the Results section and then click Query port. If it returns information about the drive that you've got connected, you've got the right one. If not, try a different port. Once you've figured out the COM and sata port addresses, take that info and set jungleflasher up to use that information. Like for mine, the com is COM4 and the sata port is B000. It's also important to note that you have to install the CK3 drivers and the portio32 before everything will work right too. It might be easier that while your in windows to use the USB cable instead of the serial cable. You have to use a serial cable if using iprep though because there isn't any USB support in DOS mode.

thx for your reply bro your a great help, but i have a question when i plug my CK3 Lite is it supposed to show up on my tool bar or in device manager? same with my lite-on drive, when i plug it in my SATA chip is it supposed to pop up on the bottom on my screen on my taskbar next to the clock? or in my device manager? like how do i know? when i plug my CK3 lite in my computer freezes so i dont even bother to plug it in while my PC is on i turn the PC off then plug it in and turn in on while the PC boots if now my computer will freeze, and in the CK3 tool every time i try to query the ports i get a error message and the whole program gets shut down, im really confused i am like one more error message from just sending it in to some one to flash for me man i dont know....

If your computer freezes just by connecting up the CK3, something isn't right somewhere. The CK3 will show up in the device manager under Ports (COM and LPT) as a Prolific USB to serial Comm Port (COMx) where x is the port number being used. This is only if your connecting your CK3 with the USB cable if your using a pro version. I don't think the lite has USB support though. So if your using the lite version, which connects to the computer by serial cable only, it wouldn't show up because you would have it connected to either com1 or com2, which is already installed on your computer.

The drives won't show up either, at least I don't think. I've never checked the device manager except for hitachi's, they will show up in my computer when they are in mode b. I know samsung drives won't show up without being in 0800 mode and I think the lite-on is the same way.

i think it frezzes because i use my molex cable in my computer i have 2 molex cables one is in the dvd drive and one is just free when i plug my CK3 lite in the fan in the computer stops and starts back up and thats when the computer freezes can you do my lite-on i think i can trust you or do you know anyone any LEGIT company that will do my lite-on who can be trusted because i dont think i will be able to flash my lite-on because my CK3 lite freezes my computer, i cant read my keys my drive is never detected my computer does not support USB memory stick boot up so i have to use this floppy disk that only has 1 mb of space on it i just want a flashed xbox once it's flashed i dont have to flash it again do i? i have everything i need to flash it, it's just not working if i can read my keys i would be happy but i cant even do that but hey thx again for allll you help i will read you post over and over and keep trying because in case i need to send my 360 back to M$ i need to take my hacked firmware out so i wanna be able to do this as well so wud you flash it for me? and i have two modes on my light witch one am i supposed to be in? when i press the mode button the light turns blue? but when i press it again it turns back red witch one am i supposed to be in while flashing my xbox?
