Maybe I should start with my settings:
Xbox360 w/BenQ drive
Using the PCI SATA card to connect the DVD drive to my PC
Power source is the Xbox360 itself
USB bootable drive
I have successfully flashed Samsung, and BenQ using iPrep 6.2. So I don't think is a hardware issue.
THE PROBLEMS FLASHING BENQ:
1. For this flash procedure I followed CoFree's tutorial (Kudos and million thanx man. WOnderful job. God bless)
2. I tried using both Iprep 8.6 and 8.8. When loading up the firmware, I would get "no valid firmware" error messages. After few re-installs of these Ipreps I was able to load up the iXtremes 1.5, and create my USB bootable drive. The Ipreps I used were from xbins. However, i read somewhere in this forum that it must be the iPrep 8.8 version available for dl here in this forum. (Not sure why but let's assume that this could be an issue causing the problems
3. So, I booted up to the prompt, After typing the dBen instruction it lists the Benq on the # 6. Then it has the question to resend the MTK. After hitting "y" , the screen completely skips out the instructions where you are supposed to eject tray, power off, push tray half way in and power back ON. Instead, it goes straight to the questions that asks for your DVD port #. If I enter 6 (in my case) it goes next to the question of what would like to do (Read, Write, etc) THen I click R and name the file but it the dump goes unseccessful, thus I have to abort.
QUESTIONS:
1. Any ideas as to what might be going on?
2. In regards of ejecting the tray and power cycle the drive, I cannot see what Cofree did in his tutorial. THe problem here is that after once I have ejected the tray, the next step is to power OFF the drive. Well, if I power the drive OFF the tray will close itself all the way in...so how am I supposed to push the tray half the way in when it already has gone all the way in?
3. With iPrep 8.8 there is no need to update firmtool (copy and replace) nor to update the iXdef correct?
thanx for any help

Re: BENQ Problems Dumping Key+iPrep
powering the drive with the 360 can be a pain
because of that it will close the dvd drive tray when you hit the power button.
im sure the ipr3ep on xbins are fine.
i was just not sure where that guy had got his.
there is no reason the v8.8 would not load the new v1.5 firmware.

Re: BENQ Problems Dumping Key+iPrep
Funny thing...
I had the same issue last night trying to flash someone's 360 with the ix1.5 firmware.
It kept skipping the instructions as well at the same point.
I have used iPrep 8.8 many times before and have been successful every time.
I thought I was losing my mind last night because my drive is a BenQ and I flashed it the first time with no issues.
I think that I will try the same BenQ I had last night again this week to get the ix1.5 on there.
This time I will disconnect my burner and the second hard drive. Maybe that will work.
Thanks for all you do around here CoFree.
I know that I say it for myself as wel as many others that we would be lost without you.
Thank you so much, man.
