Iprep 008.8 and ck3
Hi guys first would like to apologize in advance if this is a nooby question
However, is it compulsory to have any connectivity kit to flash the benq drive?
I have followed all the recent tutorials however they all seem to use a ck3 when using iprep 008.8.
The reason why I ask this question is because I did buy a ck3 but it seems to of got lost in the mail and I don't want to
Pay another 50 bucks!
Any info will be greatly appreciated!!

If you have a BenQ VAD6038 you do not need a connectivity kit. You can still use your 360 to power the drive. The reason the majority of these new tutorials use the connectivity kit is because of the lite-on drive which requires some sort of RS232 to TTL device.

Excellent thanks for the reply and yes i have the benq vad6038.
When following cofree's turorial using v008.8 without using the ck3 am i still required to eject the tray and put it back in half way?
I have noticed this step wasnt required in earlier versions of iPrep..

Disregard this post i'm off to sit on the naughty step for not knowing about the new iprep benq process.

Re: Iprep 008.8 and ck3
no
you may have to do it also with the benq now
it works the same on a benq because it almost the same as a lite-on.
it will be hard to do this using the console for power when you have the tray half closed and power on the console it will close the dvd drive tray and the dump/flash wont work

Phew thats news. Then again i used the older version of iprep when i done the benq's. Thanks for the heads up CoFree.

Re: Iprep 008.8 and ck3
you maybe able to use iprep6.2 beta
to flash the benq after updating the def file it will load the v1.5 firmware.
it uses a different way to get the drive in debug mode
im looking for that info now.

Re: Iprep 008.8 and ck3
Yeah, the older version of iprep (6.2) uses MTKFlash to do the dumping and flashing with and didn't require the tray half closed. But the new iprep (8.8) uses DOSFlash exclusively now and it does required the try to be half closed. The reason being is because you don't have to run any soft unlock measures on the drive or power cycle and things of that nature like the old way.

I'm sure it was iPrep 101 v008 Pro beta i used. It was the version which seemed to cause people a few problems as the guide said type ben-cfw.bin when it should have said benq-cfw.bin. (I know i was one of them until i dir'd the directory. Hah ) I could be mistaken though.
