hey, i'm wondering if anyone can help me with a BenQ problem... i've got the new firmware and everything loaded through iPrep.
I power the xbox on the 1st time and it toggles between 0x51 & 0xD1, turn it off and it stops at 0XD1.. everything good so far...
then when i go to turn it on for the third time, it goes back to toggling, and never reaches 0x73 or reads..
i've tried it with 2 different xboxes and am using a VIA pci card.

no problem but
pablomeka you should have started just one tread.
if you have not tried a floppy then try that
the card has to be a via6421 pci card.
if you know your card will work then i would say try a different computer

The 79's are a different animal...
None of the commands used for flashing the 79 are there, they have been removed from previous versions... This means you need to install a Passkey (which has all these commands) to one of the chips on the drive. Just beware though, this doesn't look that easy.

And if at first you don't succeed..? Order the damn card!

If I was him, I would take it back and go buy one from a different store. Try to get one with a benq drive in it. The 79 is a bitch to flash, and I don't think anyone on this site has much experience with it. From what I understand you have to have a passkey installed which requires some very small soldering.
