Hey man just get the Hitachi into mode B and you can flash it the same way as a 59. Just run FLASHIX.bat and follow the prompts. Make sure to choose 12x for your speed.

if the dvd drive has never been flash you can go right to the flashing part.
but
on the hit dvd drive if its been flash before you have to run the restore then flash.
have a look at this video guide.
viewtopic.php?f=110&t=322" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

all the older hit dvd drive flash the same
the v78 and v79 are different

Hey cofree im a bit worried cuz this isn't my 360 it belongs to a friend and he asked me to mod it for him. I went into mode b and went to windows, i loaded 360 firmware Toolbox ver4.8, went to tools direct drive dump (GDR Only) then selected the drive and then clicked Raw dump firmware as... tried saving the .bin file as original and it gives an error "Failure" Cannot read from drive. is it because im using an original game? Forza Motorsports 2 to be exact!! Im a bit worried. pls help

im also using Windows Vista Ultimate if that helps

Thx

you dont need a game inserted to get the flash done. are you sure the drive is in mode b. you can check that by going to my computer and checking for the drive letter and opening it few times from there. if it responds then it is in mode b, if not then you will need a xeno kit to get it into mode b
flashed 16 benQ, 8 Sams25, 3 sam28, 2 hit 0059dj, 2 0047dh 3 0047dj, still stuck on 0078fk, failed 0047dj hardware

They are right. Either the drive isn't totally in mode b, or something just isn't jiving with the hitachi. Try connecting the hiatchi at various points like after windows loads, before you boot the computer, or at the windows loading screen. Then run firmware toolbox, or jungleflasher.

kool, i actually shut down everything and everything was ok, the only prob is that game disc "Forza Motorsports 2" won't play in the came, the 360 says insert that game into a 360 console to play. Other games play tho so im not sure if its a dirty game or war. I did all the necessary probing to find out if it was in mode b or not, I went into my computer and there was a drive letter assigned to it, also windows had said it found a new hardware and after putting in the game windows media player automatically read the game and said to use the media in an xbox 360.

What im thinking is that i need to ge an original movie dvd. I dnt know. and how would i go about using jungle flasher? if i try again. Also i just remebered, the SATA cable was inserted on the 2nd port on the motherboard.

I would always go with the primary port on any chipset, that could be your problem right there...

Also, if you're using onboard sata, I would recommend checking your bios settings, make that sata mode is set to sata not ahci (this is important for the hitachis)

In most cases you have 3 settings : SATA, AHCI and RAID. Out of the 3 you want native SATA (which makes your SATA ports show as Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller)...

With some ICHx chipsets you don't get the option of native sata, that's when I would say go for a via sata card, like the one in my sig...

I have a 775Dual-VSTA Mb with a VIA PT880 Pro/Ultra Chipset and VIA VT8237A Chipset. In my bios i went into Advanced and selected onboard IDE controller to enable, in the SATA Operation Mode it says [non-RAID] shud i change that to RAID?

Should be none raid...

If you're still having problems, then I would recommend ordering the card, it will save you many , many hours of stress...

Ok but i dnt really have time to order the card, my onboard sta read the drive an boots up the game in windows media player, so my guess is it works. my other question that i have is, do u think using ixtreme1.4_Hitachi_c4eva_rev1 coud fix the prob? In my computer it gave me a drive letter and it showed the name of the game in the drive. I did many probing techniques to figure out if the drive was in mode b. The deive wudn't close with just 1 click of the eject button, had to hit it twice and couple sec after the drive opened automatically. After that i tried closing it by doing it the only 2 way possible, hit eject once then manually push the drive in or hit the eject button twice and when it going in i hit it a third time. So i dnt know.

Thx
