I'd like to know what you (any of you out there) might recommend as the best way (or any way, really) to get my Toshiba-Sasmsung TS-H943 ms28 drive recognized by windows so that i can use XBC, etc. etc.
Actually, make that any way besides hotswap, ordering a kreon flashed, etc. I'm talking about how to flash my drive here.
Ive got the xtrm0800.bin and i know how to make a 0800 disc.
i had already flashed my drive with ixtreme 1.5 and it plays backups just fine.
I just cant seem to get this 0800.bin flashed to my drive.
edit: "i just cant seem to get this 0800.bin flashed to my drive' properly.

well
make a iprep boot flash
in the backup folder make a folder named 1234567
then in that folder make a folder named 12345
in there put the 0800 firmware that you renamed to ' samcfw.bin "
with out the " " of course
then just flash it in like normal

I put the xtrm0800.bin on the bootable USB drive, went thru iPrep as usual, except when i got to the point of flashing, after yes, power cycle drive, drive number, w for write, then instead of 'samcfw.bin' i did 'xtrm0800.bin'.
It appeared to work, b/c for the first time when i look at 'My Computer' and turn on the xbox (which is still hooked up to my SATA card n powered by the 360) a new drive appeared. But when I put a game disc in to see if it would change from "CD Drive (G:)" to" XBOX 360 (G:)" so that i could rip it, the disc jsut stopped spinning and the drive on screen did nothing. If i try to do anything with it it says please insert a disc into drive...etc. and Xbox Backup Creator recognizes the drive, but still has 'start' greyed out.
So basically, the drive appears to be in 0800 mode, however it inst reading the game and XBC still wont let me rip it.
any ideas?

try hotplugging the sata cable in when you get fully booted. I don't know if that will make a difference for you, but a couple of friends of mine has to do their's that way.

should hotplugging not matter whether it be from the drive or the mobo?
