cant get ofw of a ms25 or ms28

hi there

both the ms25 and 28 both come up with the same error
using the instructions off here for the new iprep all goes fine till it goes to read ofw
this is what happens:-

Reading Bank0......Wrong drive status
ERROR:FILE BACKUPS\1234567\12345\samOFW.BIN does not exsit Program
aborted

the dvd drive is being powered by the xbox 360 does that make a differance to using the connectitivy kit?
also using a via vt6421 Raid controller .
when i get to screen where it asks you to press any key so it can go and find the drive the xboxs power light starts flashing on both the ms25 and 28 as it would to a hitachi using slaks.

any theories on why this is happening and how to sort the problem would be greatly apprecitated

try a different flash or even a floppy disc.

sadly after 2 pen drives and a new floppy still came up with the same error when it got that far

have tried the older ipreps like v6 and v6.2 and no joy but have used them in the past
i have recently wiped 2 pcs to try completely from scratch no joy
i have not been able to do any samsung since xprojects went offline to be updated

not a clue where i am going wrong if i am and things to try

you are running on a vai6421a ir l chipset right.

well i do know that iprep uses a different way to get the dvd drive in debug mode now.
it dont use the 10 sec trick.
it could be something with the fact that you are powering the drive with the 360 but i dont see how that would mater.
have you tried a connectivity kit to power it.

It might be worth trying an older version of iprep (6.2 is what I still use) with a copy of the 0800 disc for samsungs...

Sounds like you're not getting past the firmguard to me. Some people have problems getting past this with the magic unlock command that everything uses now...

not used a connectivity kit but been looking into aquiring one

i have now got a copy of the 0800 disc is there any tutorial on how to use it please as i havnt used it before.

The 0800 is disc is simple to use... just pop in for about 10-15 seconds, take it out, and try your dump.

The only thing I'm not sure of with the 0800 is what disc it needs to be burned onto, but I know it's helped people out in the past...

if you go to trying the iprep 6.2 you should try the 10sec trick to get in the dvd drive.

hello

recently reinstalled windows on my pc but kept my old drive that i used to use to flash them.
i dug it out found the iprep 6.2 was what i used tried that got the ofw no probs woo hoo
so then i tried the iprep 8.8 and you guys have made it a pleasure to use
fantisic peice of work
can only put this problem down to my operating system on my drive everything appears to be working ok
just your average windows faults will look into it further and tell you if i pin point the issue
sorry for the delayed brainwave of my old drive but maybe highlighted a problem that could occur for others
