Spoofing BenQ with BenQ help
Hi all,
I want to spoof a BenQ with a BenQ. I already have 2 identical dvd drives and dumped the 2 keys. I'll be using toolbox and iPrep 6.2
I looked at Sadalius tutorial, but I have some questions.
Once the spoofing has been done in toolbox, will toolbox create a spoofed firmware file? What would be the name for it? At the end of the tutorial, the last pic says "XXXXXfirmware backup \ORIG.Bin then "FIRMWARE SPOOFED AS VAD0603XXXX)
Is this the spoofed firmware?
How exactly do I flash the spoofed firmware onto my new Benq? Is there anything I need to do when creating my bootable stick with iPrep 6.2? or do I need to replace any files/folders in the ubs stick?
Any help greatly appreciated,
Best
The tutorial doesn't show how to flash the spoofed firmware onto the new DVD drive...

Re: Spoofing BenQ with BenQ help
You don't need to spoof the firmware if it is the same FW already...
In your case, all you have to do is put the key from the old benq into the one you're replacing it with.
If you're using Iprep, I would just do a dump of the old drive, and flash the resulting CFW into your new drive (If the new drive is from an xbox that you wish to use again, keep hold of the key. If it's a replacement drive, it'll come with no key).
The command to flash in iprep is fben 1234567 12345, where the serial is whatever you used first time round to get the dump.
Finally, make sure all key's you have are unique before you do any flashing....

Re: Spoofing BenQ with BenQ help
just wondering the reason you are changing your drive. if its a disk read problem or something then you dont even need to do flashing. just open the drives and change the motherboard around. if you already created the two firmares from the first drive which is your old one. just go straight to flashing on a new benq, with the same folder in ur usb like lilrevuk told you and type in the same numbers you did while backing up. you dont need the firmware from the new one if its exactly the same.

Re: Spoofing BenQ with BenQ help
Oh, I think I'm getting closer. I am basically replacing the bad BenQ with another Benq drive I got from a red ringed 360. I considered swapping the PCBs, but Benq's require too much soldering, thus I thought that flashing the keys would be easier.
Let me see if I got it straight:
1. when lilrevuk said "resulting CFW", this means the CFW from the old Benq dump right? ...then
2. how do I put the "resulting CFW" onto the USB stick in order to complete the flashing? do I need to do a copy/paste? or do I need the load the "resulting CFW" in iPrep in the Benq section (just in the same way as if I was loading iXtreme fw for a normal flash)? --Please step-by-step if possible
3. Then boot up to iPrep and use the fben command?
4. The last question, once i entered the fben command, all the power cycle steps are the same as in a normal ixtreme flashing?
Million thanx again.

Re: Spoofing BenQ with BenQ help
forget the firmware for the 'new' benq, if the console has been scrapped, you don't need the key any more from it...
-Start your iprep flash over and get a dump of your 'old' benq.
-If you're using Iprep 8.8, firmtool will create your hacked 1.5. If you're using an older one like you mentioned, you'll have to either replace firmtool from the flash with the latest one, or build your FW in iprep.
-Reboot iprep (as long as the key is good from the dump you just did) and fben 1234567 12345 for the flash.

One last question....assuming that I'll be using iPrer 6.2, should I replace firmtool from the flash before getting the dump or after dump just prior to the flashing stage?
second last question, when creating my bootable flash with iPrep 6.2, do I need to load up Benq's iXtreme FW to make the bootable stick?
third last question, will this procedure enable the 360 to read the backups, or do I need to make a regular flashing once the key has been swapped?
thanx for all the help.

1. You should replace the firmtool because the one packed with it is out of date, I would replace it with version 1.3.
2. And yes load the USB with the iXtreme 1.5 Firmware.
3. One time flashing deal. Do it and you're good, until you have to update(mainly every year).

Spot on Backslash...
Firmtool 1.3 comes with ix1.5.. in the DOS folder.
One thing I would say is make sure you get a good key before you flash. I personally dump the firmware twice and then check the key in each (with either Jungle Flasher or FWToolbox). If it's unique (not all 0000's or FFFFF's), and the same in both dumps, you're good to go

Re: Spoofing BenQ with BenQ help
the first thing you should do is start using iprep 008.8
most of us will not be supporting 6.2 for much longer.
dont get me wrong 6.2 was good
but
the new8.8 is rock solid

Re: Spoofing BenQ with BenQ help
OK. I managed to get iPrep 8.8 working. Keep in mind that I'm doing a key swap here with 2 identical Benq's.
Now, I got the dump from my old bad BenQ. I checked it out with toolbox and it looked good.
I'm ready to flash now. Since I powered everything off (PC and 360) to reboot into windows to check the key and also to swap the drives, do i need to get the DVD drive tray half way in before entering fBen serial?
thanx

Re: Spoofing BenQ with BenQ help
i dont think so
just power back up hook up the drive and flash like normal.
as long as you are talking the same dvd drive
it should flash in and work fine.
i would make sure to keep keys for both dvd drive
"just in case"
you never know what can happen.
